Elros Aerendyl

Details

Elros is a very tall and handsome elf. He is noticeably muscular for an elf, formed from years and years of training. His blonde hair is not as light as his father’s, but looks more like his mother’s. It isn’t very long and usually well groomed. He has a strong jaw and plump lips. He has a set of bright blue eyes that soften his face.

Impressions & Attitude

Elros is a man with an air of ‘casual elegance’ that so many of his family bear. It is, however, more notable with him than with his commanding father. Even now that he is a parent himself, he still has a slightly haughty look on his face sometimes.  Elros walks, rides, and sits with great posture, possessing a grace about him as he must act the role he is destined to fulfill. He is often the life of a party, filling the room with a pleasant and warm laugh. He is by all means the golden child of the family, destined for greatness. The concerns that this brings for the man are only visible in his blue eyes, every so often.

Clothing

Elros’ heritage is made clear by the way he dresses. He is by all means the Governor’s eldest son. His casual dress consists of blouses, tunics and overcoats in shades of grey and blue. Sometimes you’ll find him in a loosely worn blouse. He often wears boots, always ready to leave where he is needed. His formal wear consists of embroidered blouses and coats, meticulously crafted and made to fit him. When out on a mission assigned to him by his father, or even one that he has chosen to venture on his own, he is dressed as a knight. When he is, it includes a large and very heavy chainmail armor. Elros seldom wanders around without his sword attached to his hip.

Since birth, Elros feels called to serve a greater purpose in life. And his father made sure he knew about his purpose too. Thoughtful and idealistic, Elros strives to have a positive impact on other people and the world around him. He rarely shies away from an opportunity to do the right thing, even when doing so is far from easy.

Outside
Elros, like his father, is a natural born leader. A devoted altruist, his strength of conviction bolsters his innate leadership skills. He tends to be vocal about his values. When something strikes him as unjust or wrong, he will speak up. But he rarely comes across as brash or pushy, as his sensitivity and insight guides him to speak in ways that resonate with others. His secret weapon is his purity of intent. Generally speaking, he is motivated by a sincere wish to do the right thing rather than a desire to manipulate or have power over other people. The result is that he can communicate with an eloquence and sensitivity that are nearly impossible to ignore.

Inside
Few things bring Elros a deeper sense of joy and fulfillment than guiding friends and loved ones to grow into their best selves. He has an uncanny ability to pick up on people’s underlying motivations and beliefs. At times, he may not even understand how he comes to grasp another person’s mind and heart so quickly. These flashes of insight can make Elros an incredibly persuasive and inspiring communicator. When he cares about someone, he wants to help solve that person’s problems – sometimes at any cost. The good news is that many people are grateful for his assistance and advice. After all, there’s a reason that he has a reputation for helping others improve their lives.

Weaknesses
Getting involved in other people’s problems isn’t always a recipe for success. Elros tends to have a clear vision of what people can or should do in order to better themselves, but not everyone is ready to make those changes. If he pushes too hard, his loved ones may feel resentful or unfairly judged. Especially considering his own ‘Golden Boy’ status. And while he is known for being insightful, Elros may sometimes misread a situation or unwittingly give bad advice.

Being the perfect son to his parents, the heir, came with its own consequences. Elros is adept at hiding his true feelings, having been accustomed to being the perfect son for his father. He finds it somewhat difficult to express himself emotionally because of this. Beside always wanting to do the right thing, he feels extremely pressured into doing so, as not to let anyone down.

Elros belongs to the Aerendyl family, meaning that he grew up with a life of privilege and extreme loyalty to his family. As the future governor, his father made sure he would uphold the family values. It is safe to say Elros has a bit of a complicated relationship with his father, yet is closest to him. He loves him with all his heart, but finds it hard to acknowledge the pressure his father puts on him. He does know that Andreas has the best intentions for all of his children. The Aerendyl heir adores his mother, Saelwyn. She has been particularly important in helping raise his children. Elros cares deeply for his siblings and grew up feeling a responsibility for them unlike anything else. He tends to tease them sometimes, but ultimately just wishes to see them happy.

The relationship with Elros’ late wife Lavinia had always been a good one. While they didn’t start out as lovers, they were friends. After he was married to her, Elros fell deeply in love with her. Now that she is no longer with him, he feels as if his heart has been punctured. Elros cares for his children more than anything in the world. They are his entire being, even more so after his wife’s untimely death.

As a waterbender, Elros can shape and manipulate water. Waterbenders also possess the ability to alter the physical state of the water they manipulate, between liquid, solid and gas, at will. Waterbending's strength is its great versatility. Rather than supporting a separate set of offensive methods, waterbending employs defensive techniques that can be transformed into attacks and counters, defense into offense. Instead of simply deflecting an attack, waterbending's defensive maneuvers focus on control, achieved through turning an opponent's own strength against them, rather than directly harming the opponent.

Some techniques Elros often uses include:

• Breath of ice: A waterbender can use the water vapor in their breath to rapidly freeze objects or opponents. For a more advanced version of the technique, the user takes a deep breath and exhales the air as a cloud of freezing mist.
  
• Ice spear: The ice spear is a waterbending move that involves freezing a stream of water into a spike and firing it at the intended target.
  
• Wave: By moving a large mass of water without separating it from its original source, advanced waterbenders can create waves of nearly any size. They do this by using an upward movement that raises the source, which they subsequently send away in their desired direction
  
• Water knife: Waterbenders can create a fast, cutting swoop of water that can cut through vulnerable materials.
  
• Water wall/water shield: Water can be molded into a variety of shapes and can be used to deflect an attack, trap opponents in a viscous body, reshaped and propelled at attackers before they can recover, or solidified into a shield of ice.
  

Elros has been trained in his magic by his father. He is not yet a master like his father of 55 is, but he is an expert bender nonetheless. He will continue to train under his father’s command.

Every bender has weaknesses, including Elros. One of his first lessons was to master his emotions. It wasn't too difficult with his calm personality, making outbursts rare. Yet when he does lose his temper, he is all the more dangerous to everyone around him. The further Elros is from the Lemurian source, the harder bending becomes. And whilst Andreas has largely been able to teach him how to create an external water source, he has not yet mastered this.

EARLY YEARS

Elros Galahad Aerendyl was born into the Aerendyl family. He was his parents’ first, a blessing and a golden child from the day he drew his first breath. He was the heir, a title that would show to be both a blessing and a curse for little Elros. Two years after Elros was born, Castor followed. Then Lysanthir, Vasilisa, Silas and finally Anaïre.

CHILDHOOD YEARS

Elros grew up under his parents' devoted care, meaning that he had not a single thing to worry about. He was given the best tutors, magic masters and fighting specialists, the way all his siblings would be. Elros showed a talent for politics, leadership and magic from a young age, much to the pleasure of his governor father. Yet while Elros was studying his magic with his father, other children his age were allowed to rummage around and worry about nothing at all. If it hadn’t been for his mother, little Elros wouldn’t have been able to make friends. Thankfully, he seemed to be quite adept at this.

TEENAGE YEARS

As the years grew by, Elros grew into his role perfectly. He was handsome ⁠and he knew it. He didn’t mind the many stares of moon elf girls he got as he strode through town with his friend group —of which he was the clear leader. All was well in Elros’ life, or so it seemed. The fact that his own ‘perfection’ caused a shadow on his younger siblings, especially Castor, was something that never went unnoticed by him. Yet there was little he could do about it. He couldn’t not listen to his father, so he vowed to help his siblings. After all, he had always possessed an undying devotion and pure intent. His efforts only went over moderately well, it seemed. Yet Elros was never anything less than caring, especially when his father’s expectations weighed heavily on his own shoulders.

ADULTHOOD

The Aerendyl heir was betrothed to his bride at age 18. Lavinia was a beautiful woman, someone he scarcely knew from passing. Not the best conditions to marry, yet the both of them made efforts to at least befriend one another. They married a year later. After their marriage was when Elros truly fell in love with his spouse. He knew her passion, her vision and her flaws the way she knew his. A year into their marriage, his beloved wife gave birth to their first child: a boy they named Andreas II. How could they not? Now that Elros had his own little family, his life seemed to become a little easier. There was less pressure from his father, a little more enjoyment. Two more children followed: Orophin and Delfyne.  And as the years went by, Elros truly started living.

But happiness wasn’t meant to last forever. In 1452, Lavinia suddenly fell ill. A terminal illness that even the best healers couldn’t beat, let alone slow down. Now their time together seemed so short, as if not enough had gone by. Shortly after the Luna Moth festival the day came that his wife left the earth, Elros didn’t shed a single tear. He consoled his children and he allowed others to cry. As soon as he was by himself, however, he broke down. He was in the room crying by himself, for it had always been Lavinia who had helped him through his tears. But she was gone.

NOW

It has been moons since Lavinia’s departure and Elros still hasn’t quite found himself again. He is known to put on a brave face, smile as wholeheartedly as he did before. All to keep his children happy, since they are the only true happiness in his life nowadays.
