Alyssa sighed. Tomorrow her fiancée and his parents would travel to the Agrarian Ring to make some more wedding plans. She didn’t want to have them in the Agrarian Ring. Not because she was ashamed of showing her life to those people and let them know how poor they actually were – she already knew for a fact that they knew that – but she didn’t want to invite them into her home. She didn’t want them to look down on the people she was raised with, she respected. She didn’t want them to throw their money around like it meant nothing, even if it was to help her parents out. Because Alyssa knew the real reason why her parents invited them over in the Agrarian Ring: because they hoped they would gain enough pity for those people to pay for their food. She had lost the necklace, but she still hadn’t told her parents. She just told them that she had it in her pockets because she didn’t want such a valuable item to be stolen and after some consideration they had complied to her wishes.

But the dream couldn’t last forever. There was no way she could like to her fiancée when he would show up tomorrow. She had to be honest and tell him that she lost the necklace, that it was stolen from her. Even he couldn’t do much in the Agrarian Ring, so he wouldn’t be able to retrieve the necklace. How would he react? She had seen him getting angry when things weren’t going his way once, but he had never averted her anger towards her before. Would this be a different matter? The very thought made her stomach churn and she decided to venture out in the outskirts of the ring to ease her mind.

As she was walking past farmer lands that she was so used to, she frowned when she saw a woman who looked to be rich. What was someone from the Upper Ring doing in the Agrarian Ring?
