Champagne problems

A banquet was ever so exciting. Penelope simply lived for these types of events. She adored the thrill that came with entering the ballroom and all eyes turning her way. She loved having perfect gentlemen asking her to dance as they kissed her hand. She so thoroughly enjoyed the gossip in the air as everyone made their way around the party. Tonight was one of those nights, and she just knew it would be splendid.

The lady was standing next to her best friend near the dance floor as she let her keen eyes glide through the crowd. "I know we've just had a party last week," she started. "But don't you think tonight is just turning out wonderfully?" She went on with a content smile on her face as she looked at Alison. Was there truly anything better than the life they lived?
