Jane Winter

Jane is a classic beauty, like most (if not all) women who carry the surname Winter. Her signature blonde hair is quite full and wavy, to the point where you could almost call it curly. In the warmer months, her hair will turn a much brighter cream blonde, while during the colder months it turns more dark, like caramel, with light streaks throughout. She wears it in many different ways: up, down, half up, braided, half braided, ect. Her fair skin is quite pale due to the years of illness. It forced her to stay mostly inside as well as prohibiting her from doing any hard labor. Not that she would've done any if she was healthy.

Her dark brows and kind, soulful eyes make her face quite expressive.When she smiles or laughs, her whole face lights up like the sun, making it hard not to smile or laugh with her. (Especially when she snorts.) She has a graceful way about her and can come across as quite modest. Her voice is crisp and honeyed, as she often hums and enjoys singing. She talks eloquently as any lady from the Upper ring is expected to.

Jane dresses in a way that's complimentary to her figure and complexion (and her family's wallet). Fitting to her personality with lighter colors and elegant but subtle accessories. Often with an extra layer of warmth to protect her health in the colder months. She never wears black unless she's in mourning.

Jane is kindhearted to her core, always seeing the best in everyone and everything. Her sociable, sunny nature makes it easy to like her. It doesn't matter if you are the Duke of Ashmoor or his gardener, she will treat everyone with respect and kindness. Due to this and her obedient character people often think she's weak or easily manipulated. Some even label her as a doormat, seeing as she likes to help whereever she can. This couldn't be more from the truth. She still is a Winter. She is strong-willed and proud. She can certainly turn a phrase if she needs to.

Jane did have a more sheltered life than most, even for a Winter. Her main escape in life was through reading. She loves roman novels and poetry and is absolutely a hopeless romantic, but if she can get her hands on any book or diary's about Odiria and it's countries and histories, she is truly extatic. It's the ultimate escape. Imagining a different life through them, which she labels as a guilty pleasure because of her strong religious uprbinging.

She has a great love for animals, both in wild and domesticated form. She loves to “care for them”, which mostly comes in the form of visiting the aviary or the fish pond to watch how the servants care for them. Same with the horses in the stables, as she was never allowed to ride them.

Like her parents and her siblings Jane is very religious and has a strong faith in Renestrae. Always thanking Her with every meal, keeping herself pure for marriage, donating to the church ect. It's one of the many things that makes her feel close to the family aside from the great love and care she has for them.

The death of her Fiancé Emilio changed Jane quite a bit. She never dealth with a pain and loss like this and has a hard time coming back from it. She has become significantly more quiet and introverted. Struggling to come to terms with the changes in her life, accepting them and face the reality. But she tries to leave the dark place she found herself in, one step at the time.

Childhood

Born as the first daugther of Reginald and Elizabeth Winter, Jane Margaret Winter started her life with a lot of expectations. As a Winter she and her family represented an important part of society in which she too had a role to play. Her parents, especially her mother expected perfection, so Jane and her siblings were brought up to be proper and devout little ladies. Jane was always a gentle loving and obeying soul, so her parents didn't have a lot of trouble with her growing up. Her troubles came in a different form. Illness. Around the age of five she started to become ill and when the doctors couldn't cure her they advised to move her out of Alderrath to a place with cleaner air. And so it was arranged that Jane would live with the Grimaldi's in Dawnmire.

At first it was hard on the little girl. Leaving her family to live with pratically strangers, young as she was. It didn't take long however to feel at home amongst the loving family oriented Grimaldi's. They cared for their new ward like one of their own. Eventhough everyone did their best to provide her with a normal childhood, it would never be that; normal. She wasn't able to play outside, no running, exploring or climbing, no playdates with her peers or other physically demanding pastime. Jane had to spent most of her childhood indoors resting, enduring doctors visits and learning. The Grimaldi's provided her with a special room, she dubbed her glass tower – all the walls and even the roof was almost only windows, in which she could rest and recover while still being able to experience the beautiful exteriour of the Grimaldi estate. Her teachings continued of course, she was still expected to become a proper lady.    

Teenage years

Over time she became the proper young lady her parents expected her to be. Her illness would become less taxing on her and she was able to go out more. There was even a time where it seemed like she had been fully cured so she moved back to Alderrath for a while. But it didn't last. Around her 16th birthday she relapsed and again moved back in with the Grimaldi's. It was at this time that she properly met and got to know the future Baron of Dawnmire, Emilio. He had spent his childhood in Alderrath, becoming a knight, while Jane had spent her childhood in Dawnmire. She quickly developed a crush on the handsome and caring young man and spent much of her time with him as their friendship grew deeper. Walks along the beach, garden picknicks, long nights converting in the the dimly lit corners of the library. It was very clear how fond they both were of eachother. It was only a natural decision by their parents (and the happiest day of her life) when they arange the engagement, of Emilio and Jane.  

Adolescence

Jane couldn't have dreamed of a better start of her adulthood life than the prospects of marrying Emilio. Making the Grimaldi estate her true home and finding her place in high society after years of struggling. She would become Dawnmire's next Baroness, which was the greatest honour – and more importantly she would marry the love of her life. She took it very serious and spend even more time with her future mother-in-law than before, learning anything and everything she could from Vittoria. The next couple years were neverending bliss for Jane. Emilio was her everything and her life with him was finally about to start. Or so she thought. Her happiness, love and life was shattered into a milion pieces the day that Victor came home with the lifeless body of his twinbrother and her betrothed. Just an accident, but an obsolutely devastating one for the Grimaldi's and Jane. All their lifes would chance and for Jane nothing would ever be the same again. She spent the first couple months, after Emilio's death, in Dawnmire with the Grimaldi's, as she still felt like part of the family. To grief with them. But without Emilio, there wouldn't be a wedding. Without Emilio there was no longer a need for Jane to stay. Of course she would always be welcome to stay but the fact of the matter was; she couldn't. It was too painful to live amongst all the memories and the loss of a life she would never have with the man she had loved so very deeply. Especially now that his identical twinbrother had become the new Baron of Glimmerhollow.

Now

Jane has returned to Alderrath once again, for good this time. Always closely accompanied by at least on of her parents, still treating her like the sick child she once was. Eventhough she has become much healthier. All out of love and care for their daughter, which Jane knows. She was somewhat happy with the change of scenery and people as a distraction, but now that her younger sister is engaged to Victor Grimaldi she is haunted by her grief. Struggling to come to terms with this new arrangement.
