Lysanthir Aerendyl

Details

It wouldn’t be easy to mistake Lysanthir for anything other than a moon elf, since he certainly has all the features of one. The light and bright shining hair, almost the color of the moon itself, pale blue eyes, and the slightly pointed elven ears. And they are almost always visible due to the little braids he wears right above his ears. Which makes his elf ears rather easy to spot.

Standing at 185 cm, he isn’t the tallest elf known to men, but he certainly isn’t short either. He would still tower over most men, but amongst his own people, he may be deemed a bit short. And his athletic body isn’t built to pack a whole lot of strength, but he is very quick on his feet. Which means he makes up for it in stamina. He can run for longer periods of time without tiring, and in a fight you might find yourself having a harder time to hit him, due to the fact that he moves himself around a lot. Lysanthir also tends to focus more on his agility than his strength, when in combat.

His clothes on the road - or when he’s out exploring - are more toned green then when he is at home. In his home you might find him wearing more light tones, like silver or pearly whites with a lot more silk rather than cotton or linen. On the road his clothes are a lot more simple, but still very refined when it comes down to details, I mean, he’s still an elf.

Adventurous/Courageous
Lysanthir has a great appreciation for nature and the wilderness, and he loves to explore new paths, or regions, without showing any fear for the unknown. He listens a lot to his own intuition, one that is usually right. Like, he can usually predict when it’s about to rain, or when something’s about to happen. This actually has nothing to do with magic, but more with his own senses, and the ability to observe and listen to even the softest of sounds. Yet, even if he senses something bad is about to happen, he would not hesitate to face the danger ahead of him.

Hot-headed/Competitive
Even though Lysanthir may seem very quiet, calm and soft-spoken, at first glance, he is actually rather hot-headed underneath everything. He is quickly angered, and his buttons are easily pushed. Besides that, he is also very protective of his friends and the people he cares about. Never drawing his bow without intent to use it. He is also very competitive, and he will never back down from a challenge.

Arrogant/Flamboyant
One of the downsides from the way that he was raised, is his arrogance. It’s a very common flaw amongst elves, since they usually see themselves as superior to humans, and they tend to look down on them. Lysanthir tends to do this too, but his mind is also open to anyone who’s willing to prove themselves, and/or prove him wrong about his views. He is also very flamboyant, and he draws a lot of attention towards himself with his dramatic flair, and his stylishness.

Loyal/Compassionate
And yet, besides everything else, he is extremely loyal and compassionate, something you’ll get to know once you know him better. He would do everything for the people he cares about, and you might find it rather easy to befriend him, if you were to look past his arrogance. Lysanthir is also known to show emotions of regret, remorse and pain over the loss of loved ones. But, despite everything, he never allowed himself to change during certain events in his life.

Lysanthir has a good relationship with most of his family members, and he is extremely loyal to them. Fiercely protective of them as well. He would kill anyone in an instance if they were to put their lives in any immediate danger, without hesitation, if he thought that would be the only option to save them. Not taking much of the further consequences in mind. His family knows this, because they know, more than anyone, how he is. That it is very easy to anger him by threatening the lives of the ones he cares about.

The young elf also cares a lot about what his father thinks of him, and he wants to make his father proud. While he is certainly not the easiest son, due to him being a little stubborn and temperamental sometimes, he wouldn’t do anything to bring shame upon his family. Nor would he ever seek to enrage his father in such a way that it could not be fixed. And, in the end, he tries his best to listen to his father. He also has an exceptionally good bond with his mother, and he loves her very dearly.

Lysanthir's expertise, when it comes down to his magic, lies mostly in waterbending, just like his father. Yet, he certainly isn’t as skilled as his father. He can only perform a few moves, and he is usually better in them when he finds himself in treacherous situations. As a boy, he was always much more interested in learning skills to fight battles. So, he spent most of his time on archery and combat training. It was only later on when he decided to include his magic to his training.

He is able to use water as a shield, but there has to be water nearby for him to use this technique. Using it as a shield can be helpful to slow down enemies, because they have to move through a body of water to get to him. It can also deflect any attacks. And, if he is focused enough, he can also solidify the water to make an ice spear, one that can be thrown in the direction of his enemy.

These are all techniques he learned from his father, but he still has a long way to go before he could ever reach the same skill. It would require him to show a lot more patience and persistence to learn them. Besides waterbending, he is also able to heal just a little, but this skill - just like his waterbending - is not perfected. He can maybe only bring back a person who is unconscious, back to consciousness, or cure a minor headache.

Lysanthir was born within the Aerendyl family, not as the first born son, but the third. While he wasn’t their first priority, due to not being set to rule over Silvercrest one day, he didn’t feel less loved by his parents. His mother still took very good care of him, and she loved him like she loved all her children. During his young childhood, he always stuck more to her side, and spent more time with his younger siblings, like his sister. But when he became older, he started to gain more interest in defending his family through fighting.

He began to lean a bit more towards his father as the years went by, who would teach all his sons how to fight, so that they were able to defend their city and their family. Lysanthir certainly wasn’t the easiest one to work with, due to his own hot-headed character and stubbornness. He wasn’t nearly as composed as his father was, and struggled a lot with keeping his emotions from surfacing. But, his emotions also made him a fierce warrior, and he actually learned very quickly how to use a bow, and other weapons as well. Though, his expertise would undoubtedly be the bow and arrow.

When he became 18 years old, his grandfather died by the old age of 101 years old, something that struck the entire family extremely hard. And while his father stayed very collected, the rest of his family wept and mourned their loss. It was also after those particular events that Lysanthir found it harder to connect with his father on an emotional level. In regards to this, he began to venture out more into the wilderness, going on patrols across the borders. Distancing himself more from his father, trying to find his own place in the world while his father became the governor of Silvercrest.

This is where he began to explore his own path, one that led him to many places. His love for nature only grew, and before he knew it, he was more often on the road than with his family in Silvercrest. Seeking out the many dangers that lurked in and around their kingdom/city. In a way, trying to protect his family by taking out these potential threats. He even became very well respected amongst many protectors of Lemuria, captains and commanders alike, mostly due to his skill and his insane bravery. But he never felt much ambition to go after such positions himself, as he had already accepted his own place and didn’t want to bear the responsibilities.

However, he wasn’t there, or anywhere near, when a battle began, near the borders of Lemuria, where his father was sent. And he wasn’t there when his father was brought back from that battle, badly wounded and nearly dying. Luckily for them, his sister was, and she had been able to heal him, but Lysanthir still feels guilt for not having been there for his family at that moment.

More years went by, and even though Lysanthir didn’t stop going on adventures, he made more time to see his family every now and then. Stopping by whenever he had the chance. Mostly to see his mother and his sisters, but also to see his father and his brothers. But, when another one of his family members died, his uncle - who was serving as the newly crowned king’s chancellor -, he was yet again, not there. He quickly made his way home when he heard of the news, to help his family to through another loss.
