Elenion Fenrora

Details

Elenion is a tall elf, who is considered ‘cute’ rather than ‘handsome’. He has some muscle but isn’t particularly strong. He has wavy brown hair that he tries to keep under control, most of the time it has a will of its own.

Impressions & Attitude

He is the embodiment of insight and emotional honesty, which has earned him quite the name throughout the tribe. He usually has a calm and gentle attitude that also shows when he speaks. His voice is quite soothing, dripping with a kind of  wisdom that is a little uncommon for his age.

Clothing

The wood elf is often dressed in elven robes that are quite formal. He usually wears some type of cloak or mantle. He prefers shades of blue, green and grey. When travelling, he dons a more casual grey ensemble.

Ever the altruistic politician, success doesn’t come from personal gain or status for Elenion but from seeking fulfilment, helping others, and being a force for good in the world. While he surely has lofty goals and ambitions, Elenion shouldn’t be mistaken for an idle dreamer. With his innate ability to balance the heart with the head, Elenion is hardwired to right the wrongs of the world, no matter how big or small. He aims never to lose sight of what truly matters – not according to other people or society at large, but according to his own wisdom and intuition.

With his rich inner life, Elenion doesn’t always fit in with those around him and sometimes he feels at odds with the world. Fortunately, this sense of being out of step doesn’t diminish his commitment to spread compassion. He may be introverted, but few things give him as much joy as truly knowing another person – and being known in return. Elenion enjoys meaningful conversations far more than small talk, and he tends to communicate in a way that is warm and sensitive. This emotional honesty and insight can make a powerful impression on the people around him.

Thoughtful and compassionate, he pours a great deal of energy and care into his relationships. This doesn’t mean that Elenion always feels appreciated in return. It can frustrate him and feel hurtful when other people don’t recognize his good intentions. He needs to remember that while he’s busy taking care of everyone else, he needs to pause sometimes and take care of himself as well.

Elenion was gifted with a pure form of wood magic, namely Earth Manipulation or Geokinesis. It is the geokinetic ability to manipulate minerals and mineral compositions regardless of their state (mountain, boulder, sand or dust), dirt, soil, etc. The key to earthbending is utilising neutrality, which involves waiting and listening for the right moment to strike and, when that moment comes, acting decisively.

Some basic techniques Elenion uses include:

• Earth and stone levitation: The most common attack involves levitating nearby pieces of earth and stone of numerous sizes (more powerful benders can move larger masses) and propelling them at foes.
  
• Earth compression: It is possible for earthbenders to compress large chunks of rock into smaller, denser chunks, or to compress several smaller chunks into one big piece of rock.
  
• Earth wall: Earthbenders can create walls of earth, which can be used for both defence and offence, as well as for practical things, like construction. (Not yet mastered)
  

Elenion isn't the typical earthbender. While he has as good as mastered the basic earth manipulation techniques mentioned above, he prefers to use his magic in finer manners. This is where his true specialty lies and what he's best at. These techniques include:

• Glassbending: Some earthbenders are able to create, shape and control glass due to its mineral origin. He can polish and repair glass (objects).
  
• Glass attacks Glassbending could be used as an offensive way of magic through using shards of glass to attack, by various shapes and/or intensities. However, this isn't something Elenion has practised or is interested in. (Untrained)
  
• Dustbending: Users can create, shape, and manipulate dust, fine particles of matter from various sources. It could be used to create dust clouds of various sizes to provide cover. (Not yet mastered)
  

Some master-earthbending techniques that Elenion will master at age 50+ include:

• Earth trembling: By making the ground underneath him shake, Elenion can throw opponents off-balance. More advanced earthbenders can make narrow trembles for precise attacks.
  
• Ground shift: Earthbenders can alter the ground beneath others to move them out of their way. The sudden movement can be disorienting to the target.
  
• Quicksand: Earthbenders turn certain surfaces to quicksand to immobilize an enemy, or to create a soft landing for themselves should they fall from a height.
  

Elenion's magic doesn't come without weaknesses. Like with all magic: the further he is from the Avalon source, the harder it becomes to perform his magic. Because Elenion’s magic is so focused on one aspect, he’s unable to perform other types of wood magic. He can create some flowers, but that is where his limits lie. Since earthbenders rely on having access to earth, their magic can be negated by securing them within a metallic barrier, separating them from any contact with the earth. Earthbenders are generally muscular, but not Elenion. His lack of muscle also reflects his preferred finer usage of his magic through glass- and dustbending.

EARLY YEARS

Elenion Finarfin Fenrora was born as the eldest son of Erlathan and Melian Fenrora. He was very loved by his parents as a child. The Fenrora ‘heir’, one who would one day represent their family at every council that might be held among the elders of the tribe. Other than the Fenrora legacy however, being ‘heir’ did not mean as much to outsiders as it did to Erlathan. The man was adamant that his son would become the perfect display of wood elf reputability and strength. In the first Elion excelled. In the latter, not so much; especially not the physical aspect.

CHILDHOOD YEARS

Little Elenion was a peaceful child. Unlike his father he was introverted: more comfortable with his nose in the books than he was amongst other brawling children. If he wasn’t with his wise tutor, he spent most of his time reading every folklore- and history book he could get his hands on. He grew up with tales about Avalon of old, told by his darling mother. It was his greatest pastime: listening to the words of his betters and learning from it. The makings of a politician, if there ever was one.

The wood elf was blessed with a rather pure form of wood magic: earthbending. From age 6, he was taught by the finest magic tutors his father could arrange. But little Elenion didn’t like brute force, he was much more interested in the finer things in life. He mastered the basics of his magic by sheer will rather than brute strength. His lack of physical strength and compassionate character were not something his father approved of. But despite the man’s efforts to toughen up his son, Elenion only seemed to act to his own kind hearted humanity and wisdom. The one thing that did come of the battering of baby Elenion was emotional strength.

When Elenion was just 12, disaster struck his family. The little boy lost his mother when she fell desperately and suddenly ill. There wasn’t much time for goodbyes, since the illness claimed her life far too soon. Not even the expertise of uncle Elendorr could save Melian. In an effort to console the boy his mother told him her passing wouldn’t matter, for she had already departed all the wisdom Elenion would need. He was already the little soldier, poet and king she knew he would be.

TEENAGE YEARS

In the years after his mother’s passing, Erlathan seemed to only further push the boy into being both a picture of physical and emotional strength. One thing Elenion did inherit from his father was ambition. Another thing was his leadership qualities, but he wouldn’t find this out until much later. While the two had a somewhat strained relationship, it was clear that his father did care for him very much and wanted only the best for his son. The latter just wasn’t what Elenion wanted. Perhaps Erlathan had been so assertive with his son in these years because he was afraid he wouldn’t be there to care for him. In that, he would have been right.

On a hunting expedition Erlathan was mortally injured, and didn’t make it back to the village alive. From one day to the other, little Elenion had no parents left to care for him. And while his uncle Elendorr took him in, for a while it felt like he was all alone in the world.

Time passed, in which the Fenrora family took time to heal and care for their own. Slowly, Elenion learned how to navigate the world on his own. He was over the moon when at age 16, his uncle allowed him to be an apprentice to the tribe’s great wise elders. Knowledge was the wood elf’s greatest strength and now he would have many. If he wasn’t busy researching or writing speeches, he was practising his magic. He started to create the most beautiful glass figurines of all kinds of animals. And if he was lucky, the whirlwind that was cousin Aelisia wouldn’t knock them over when she rampaged the house on her adventures. He spent a lot of time with cousin Elenwë, who had always been his best friend. But she would soon grow to be his very best friend in the world. He was willing to hold the shield when she practised her sword-fighting and she listened to him when he told her stories about Avalon of old. The way his mother had told him.  

ADULTHOOD / NOW

At 19, Elenion was promoted to assistant of the tribe’s priest, a great honour in his own eyes. As a man with great goals and aspirations, it came to no surprise that he quickly became a herald. He’s in charge of writing speeches for the tribe’s chief, Caerwyn, as well as ceremonies and carrying messages. One day, he hopes to become a true politician and her right hand man.
