Ezekiel Vylasar
some children are simplyborn with tragedy in their blood
It had been a tough pill to swallow, the news that he was now supposed to marry a far away cousin. He really had been a bit sour about it because: why him? Why nor Myr? He was the golden boy right, so why had he take this one for the family? The thought of marriage had been such a future problem for him. He somehow expected that one day he would have a certain duty to the family. But as he felt like he was leeching of them most of the time, he did not think it would be him. Maybe he was just the easier pick between him and his cousin. At least he could speak to the lucky bride.
Lythrania seemed awfully small after his visit to the capitol for the festival. But it was the Vylasar's home base and he never knew much but this. Ezekiel had been expected to prepare for the arrival of their distant family, as he would have to be a proper Vylasar to get to know the girl. But instead he had been above the surface, out of the city to feel the wind on his hair. Only when he had seen white sails on the horizon, he had hurried back down the underwater tunnel. Ezekiel wanted to act like this was not happening. But he could not stop it, because well once family decided, duty came first. And he had long neglected that duty. He could not help but think if this was some kind of punishment.
Ezekiel was not their when she arrived: Chaska Vylasar, a girl he had only seen a few times, years ago. He had no idea what she currently looked like, acted like, sounded like. They had been kids. And some would argue that he still was. The sorcerer had no idea how he had to handle a situation like this, Suddenly his talent for small talk had gone out the window and all he could think about was: and now what? So he had fled towards a patio on the back of the castle, where he had been pacing until he was called. Okay, time for battle it was.
He entered the room where she was standing, trying to look as nonchalant as possible, his hands behind his back and a neutral expression on his face, even if there was a certain tension in his lips. There she was, pretty as any other, he could see that. He took a while before stepping forward and reaching out a hand to her. ‘‘So glad to see you again,’’ he only spoke, a certain bitterness with the words he had chosen. He had no idea how she would have taken the news of... this whole charade. This big play they were suddenly main characters in.

shed every skin that doesn't fit
even if they call you cold-blooded

It had been a while since she laid eyes upon Lythrania, the city that most of her distant family called home. Growing up within Moonbright, the underwater scenery never ceased to amaze her. This time, though, even the sight of the Sanguine Sea couldn't manage to lift her spirits as the walked towards the door of her family's estate. At least Deimos stuck by her side during her travels, but the moment where he would had to leave crept ever closer. After shooting her twin brother a quick glance from over her shoulder and taking a deep breath, the young woman entered the estate with heavy heart.
Of course they had been treated kindly upon arrival. Each of them was granted their own, separate room where their belongings would be stored for them. She had to call upon Lythrana's strength not to lock the door behind her and remain within her designated guest room for the rest of the afternoon, ignoring her responsibilities and avoiding the one person she'd been sent for. Alas, it seemed as if life never played out in her favor anyway.
But there she stood anyway, absently staring down the room she'd been told to wait in. It was the first time since her travel to the city that Deimos no longer stood beside her. With her belongings safely stored away within the guest room, the only thing she'd tightly held onto at all times was her sorcerer's staff. Her knuckles turned white from squeezing the staff as she heard footsteps approaching. Those were certainly his. The sorceress turned around to face him as he approached her, slightly raising her chin as she looked him in the eyes. Better not to let him know about the gut wrenching anxiety building up inside her.
In the few seconds it took for him to bridge the distance she observed him. The last time the two of them had even interacted had been years ago. She barely remembered. The silver haired boy had grown noticeably taller for sure, and really couldn't be considered hideous. Still, his nonchalant attitude made her silently click her toungue in dissaproval. The one thing she did remember, though, were his striking eye colors, which was the first thing to recognize as he came closer.
Gazing upon the hand he'd reached out for a few seconds, she hesitantly offered him her own. "Likewise," the young woman spoke in a tone that couldn't really be considered enthusiastic, firmly squeezing his hand for a split second as she looked him in the eyes. "I've been told you'd show me around," she continued, freeing her hand from his as she let it fall back to her side. While she sounded formal, it certainly strayed from the honey laced voice a woman would use against her bethrothed. If anything, she sounded neutral, perhaps even cold. Ezekiel didn't seem like a bad nor hideous looking man, but she couldn't imagine herself to be thrilled about the fact that she'd marry him. The thought of marriage alone sent a cold shiver down her spine.

Chaska seemed to have grown temperament since he had last seen her. Or maybe she had always been that way, and he just had not noticed. She looked straight up at him and he narrowed his eyes ever so slightly, before looking away. His eyes just looked across the room, suddenly very interested in the pattern of the wallpaper. But the sooner he would get over with this, the sooner they would both go their separate ways again. At least for how much that would be possible: their fates were entangled now. So he extended his hand to her.
There was nothing romantic about this arrangement, what was ever so clearly in this meeting. It was shadowed by the coercion of duty. Their hands locked and she forced him to look straight at her, but the distance between them almost felt palpable. And then she just told him that he was supposed to show her around. ‘‘Oh, right..’’ he replied shortly. Ezekiel folded both his hands behind his back as he stepped back again. He still had no idea how his aunt saw this all happening. Did he have to show her around her new home? Or would they settle in their own place as soon as the die was cast.
Chaska did not seem exactly happy about this all. And she was not pretending either. And Ezekiel much preferred it that way. Why keep up the mask for each other? He would not act like somebody he was not. And neither of them were to blame of this situation their family had put them into, so with a small sigh he turned back towards the door. ‘‘Well, let's get on with it then,’’ he said while he gestured vaguely towards the exit. And without much chivalry he just stepped in front of her, not even looking back if she followed.

The young man was quick to avert his gaze from hers, but the sorceress' eyes remained focused on his. Maintaining eye contact had never been an issue for her, especially since her diagnosis. As long as she was still able to, she'd make sure to observe every little detail hidden within people's faces. Lythrana knew how fast she'd forget once her eyesight would be taken away from her. She wondered if he even knew about her condition, the main reason this marriage had been set up.
At least he seemed to share a similar feeling about the arrangement. The tone of his voice didn't exactly sound like he'd been excitedly waiting for this day. She couldn't blame him, though. But who were they to voice their opinion against their parents? Or aunt, in his case. While she had tried to convince her parents to blow off the arrangement, even the silver tounged sorceress didn't dare to go against the word of his aunt, a well respected figure within their family. She wondered how being under her care must've been for him.
His voice carried her out of her thoughts. Watching him turn around to lead the way, Chaska quietly followed, keeping her eyes fixed on the back of his head. While most Vylasars had been either dark haired or blonde, his silver hair was quite remarkable. Paired with his odd eyes, he surely stood out within the family.
It didn't take long for her to fasten her pace, now walking beside him. "It's been a while," she spoke in attempt to break te silence, het voice sounding neutral as it echoed throughout the hallway. This meeting -- this situation had been awkward enough already. A painful silence in which her mind would be able wander would only make it worse.

It was the luxury of them being alone in one room that made him so distant. He could pretend in front of an audience, like he was an actor in the play that they were watching. So maybe, in a way, this was the real him that was presented in his bride to-be. And every time he glanced back, her dark gaze was there to welcome him. Not that it was a warm welcome, it was more a predator waiting for him to make a move. Ezekiel trapped his thumb in his fist, because he noticed that he started to move his hands nervously.
If his aunt was here, she would probably whack him across his head to be more polite to Chaska. And he truly wanted to try, but he also did not want to build their relationship (?) on lies. If they were forced to be together, at least he would no bother pretending for her. Maybe she would prefer is he would be like that, but he would not allow her that choice in the matter. His aunt had already removed the choice agree or disagree to this arrangement. So the choices that he had left, he would take for himself.
Ezekiel started to walk towards the exit of the building. Towards the courtyard and the gardens. He just needed some air, it would seem. And he supposed they would have less chance bumping into somebody.. family. Soon Chaska was walking beside him and he slowed his pace a bit, placing both hands behind his back, clutching them together. ‘‘Yes,’’ he replied curtly. The silence that followed made it much more clear that he needed to speak, before this awkwardness became unbearable. He then looked at her. ‘‘We were children, if I remember correctly.’’ Time was simpler back then. Never in a million years would he have thought he would have to- well. ‘‘Do you recognize... some things?’’

Myrddin Vylasar
❝ I'll never be that me again ❞
He had heard the news and he would be lying if he didn't feel a bit bad for his brother. Marrying a cousin, just like his mother had to do. He just knew the situation would be similar to hers and eventually, perhaps, they would produce children like she had done. Bound to have a life that they didn't want, bound to have parents that were stuck to duty to their family. But Myrddin knew that destiny even laid before him, eventually. But it would seem he was lucky on that part, as there was no lady interested in him. Which was fair, he wasn't interested in them either and if he was being honest... He would never see why anyone would have any interest in him. But it was better this way, as this way he could live the way he wanted. Although still constrained to the limits of his position, he did not have to fear for anyone expecting anything more from him, anything intimate. Well.... Not anyone anyone. A smile curled on his lips at the thought, feeling a slight flutter in his belly as his cheeks coloured a soft pink. Of course there was someone but that was a whole different story. Their little secret, a perfect fantasy that could last forever if it was up to him.
He had gotten word that his cousin had arrived and that Ezekiel was going to welcome her. He didn't really know how that was going to go, given how his nephew had been for the past few weeks... Or years. Ezekiel was unpredictable, like a wild animal. In a lot of way matching his familiar that he was so reluctant on summoning for the same reason. Both were dangerous in its own right and he honestly didn't know how he was even going to handle this situation. Was he concerned for him or her? ...Well if he really was being honest, it was mostly for him. Because despite all the hurt, despite all the fighting and all the misunderstandings they had, he was still his brother. He had to look after him, even if he didn't want that. That was his duty as his family.. Right? Oh how messed up this was, an absolutely disgusting duality that they both knew would never be resolved at this pace. Push and pull, until it all fell apart. Why were they like this? Why was he like this? Why did he care so much for someone he swore to hate...?
He had gotten dressed in his formal attire, both for duty as well as meeting her for the first time. It was important for him to always keep up appearances, look perfect in every possible way. Because by Lythrana, he knew he was anything but. He was flawed in every possible way, but that didn't mean he couldn't try and compensate. He had just left a meeting with his second in command, who had given him an update on the recent issues that had remained unresolved thanks to his absence. His schedule for the following days would be packed to try and fix some things that had been on hold due to his trip, something he didn't look forward to. But he wouldn't be Myrddin if he didn't push through it. He knew that he couldn't back down, because this was his job, this was his duty. Just like how the next move was part of his duty. His mother would want him to welcome her to their city. And if he could keep an eye out on the fact that everything went smoothly, then that was a bonus.
With Maeve on his shoulder he walked into the gardens. Some maids had noted they had gone that way and they weren't wrong, as he spotted them with ease. The blonde man adjusted his clothing a bit so it sat properly, an awful habit he had when he was nervous. The familiar on his shoulder gently pressed her side to his head and he nodded. It was okay, he was just welcoming her after all. That was his duty, that was something he had to. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath and collecting his thoughts... Before finally walking forward. His gaze going to Ezekiel first. As his eyes went over the other, he couldn't help but feel like he should already jump on the defense, his muscles already tensing up a bit. But as soon as he felt the gentle brush of the bird against his cheek, he felt himself get a bit more relaxed. His eyes wandering to the woman with him, their cousin. He wasn't necessarily here for him after all. So as long as he could keep his focus on her, all should be fine. He just hoped that his brother did the same. He didn't want any conflict in a situation like this. But this was Ezekiel he was talking about, a man he could never really anticipate. All he knew was that he was going to be pissed to see him, like he always was. That was the only fixed value that remained in their relationship.
A kind smile came on his lips as he bowed his head, something his familiar did in perfect sync with him. A mandatory courtesy, he felt like. Myrddin had always been pretty uptight with such things. "Lady Chaska," The animal spoke in his stead, sounding regal and elegant as ever. "Welcome to Lythrania, we hope you had a comfortable and safe trip," He lifted his gaze, restoring his posture in the process. The tall man kept his grey eyes focused on her, trying to hold back the urge to glance over at his brother. "I've heard that Ezekiel is showing you around, how are you enjoying the city so far, my lady?" That polite smile remained on his lips as he kept looking at her, trying to get the pesky thought of his brother out of his head. He just knew the other would make a comment on it. The regal bird on his shoulder, however, had lifted her pure white gaze from the woman, to the other man, narrowing her eyes a bit after she had spoken her words. It was clear that she didn't trust the other one bit, but who could blame her.

As she caught up to him, she found herself occasionally glancing over at his face, trying to get a glimpse of what was going on inside his head. It was clear that it had been a big surprise to the two of them, but both had remained fairly calm up to now. It wasn't like they'd be able to undo what had been agreed to already. The man walking beside her would soon be her husband, and the halls surrounding her would be her everyday scenery.
His voice managed to snap her back to reality as he responded. "We were," she confirmed. If only then she had known the things waiting for her in the future, back when the two of them had simply played with eachother as cousins. "I.. don't think so," the sorceress replied, trying to make sense of which part of his home they currently resided in. Only when they neared the exit, something clicked. "I think I remember the courtyard, though." Faint memories of their visits resurfaced as they neared the exit.
As they stepped outside, the two of them were met with the sight she'd probably never get used to. Lythrania remained to be the most magical city in Lemuria. Within the realm, even. Just as she was about to continue their conversation, another faintly, familiar face showed up. His blond hair was quick to give away his identity. On his shoulder sat a majestic bird. Chaska's neutral expression changed into one of genuine surprise as the two of them bowed their heads, after which the sorceress copied them in response. "T-thank you, Myrddin" she young woman stumbled. While she remembered her cousin to be mute, the bird was nowhere to be found within her childhood memories. While the talking bird had caught her off guard, it was pretty fascinating to see that her cousin had found a way to deal with his inability to speak.
"Please, there's no need for such formalities, cousin," she reassured him with a faint smile, hoping he wouldn't mind her dropping them as well. If this was going to be her home, these two men were probably going to become some familiar faces. Titles and formalities would make it even harder to build some sort of relationship with them. "That's right," she answered, hesitantly grabbing onto Ezekiel's arm with her free hand. Perhaps it would make a better impression, seeing that Myrddin was the Governess' son after all. "Lythrania remains to be the most breathtaking city within Lemuria," she responded truthfully. "Perhaps you'd like to join us on our stroll through the gardens?" Her gaze shifted from the blonde to her betrothed, looking at him with a glance of doubt within her eyes. She knew this stroll was for the two of them to get to know eachother, but perhaps, with Myrddin involved, it wouldn't have to be so awkward.

some children are simplyborn with tragedy in their blood
The funny things was, Ezekiel was actually good in making small talk. He much rather enjoyed it even, but it seemed that he had to be in the proper company for that. And while Chaska undoubtedly was a kindhearted or smart of funny person, he did not feel the need to enjoy himself in this situation. He probably should, it would make it easier for the both of them. But well, when did Ezekiel ever pick the easy route.
So Ezekiel stayed silent when she agreed to him, gave a smal shrug as she told him she did not recognize much but perhaps the courtyard would do. So Ezekiel gestured his hand forwards as he pointed to the open doors. ‘‘We'll see then,’’ he replied calmly. He waited for her to step out first before following her. Ezekiel's eyes as usual went up, looking at the sea above them. He did not think anybody would ever get used to this kind of impressive magic. He wanted to ask her if it was coming back already, but the two of them were interrupted by their cousin. Ezekiel's eyes widened slightly as Myr appeared with his chicken on his shoulder, performing like the perfect gentleman he never was. They shared a short look, but Ezekiel clutched his hands behind his back a bit firmer and stayed put as Chaska and Myrddin made conversation.
And Chaska seemed to like it, as the sorcerer studied the face of her betrothed. Ezekiel's lips turned into a thin line as he saw them talk graciously, bowing and stuttering nervously. Really, why did they not get married? He caught the eyes of Myrddin again and quickly released his hands to his side and signed him a "show-off". followed by a word that only existed in their little language, but it was definitely not a kind one. He just looked and listened, not even faking a smile as Myrddin mentioned his name. His two-coloured eyes were not really amused that he of all people had to interrupt him. Ezekiel already was far from comfortable, he hated it that the blonde came around to interrupt him. It was as if he was deliberately taunting him. By Lythrania, he would get it back in ten fold when he had to get married, sooner or later.
Ezekiel was caught totally of guard when Chaska took his arm and for a moment he flinched away, forcing his jaws even stronger together. But he turned his head towards Chaska as she did and he realized what she was doing. Because in her eyes, Myrddin was not just some annoying cousin. She did not know him as he did. No, he was the governess' son, an heir, somebody to impress. This was even more fucked up than he already taught. But in a sudden realization that this girl was no his responsibility: somebody to protect, he stepped a bit closer to her side. Because what would happen to her if she displeased his aunt? But he regretted his actions as soon as she invited Myrddin. She glanced back to him and he had to force a small smile. Again, he understood what she was doing, but she could not be more wrong. So he laid his hand on the one she had placed on his arm. ‘‘I'm sure Myrddin has something more important to do,’’ he tried to hint to his cousin that he was not welcome. He looked back at him and the bird.

Myrddin Vylasar
❝ I'll never be that me again ❞
Ezekiel looked tense, which he could understand in a way. But on the other hand he could also just tell him to man up. This was just business, part of the job, part of being a Vylasar. But that kind of thinking was hypocritical of him, as just some weeks ago he had ran away from Lythrania purely because he didn't like the verdict his mother had brought over him. But that was the difference between the two of them. His outbursts might have been more impulsive in the moment, they usually didn't linger for long. But for him, everything seemed to linger. His cousin was the type to hold on and let hate fester over him. He could see it in everything he did. How could the other ever be happy if all he did was act on grudges. It was that kind of behaviour that made him dislike the other so much. They were too different to ever meet eye to eye anymore, or that's what he held onto. He didn't realize he was the one who had started it all, a downwards spiral for the both of them. And neither of them ever broke free of it.
So... When the other looked at him, he simply tried to ignore it. His focus was clearly only on Chaska. His smile widened when he saw she looked a bit surprised and thanked him, stumbling a bit over her words. A gentle expression came over the blond man's face as he nodded at her. The familiar on his shoulder tilted her head a bit down, even her pure white eyes seemed to ease a bit up. Although, it was hard to read Maeve from time to time, she was still an easier creature to understand then other celestial beasts. Mostly because of her ability of vocalisation. It was something that other summoners could only wish for, and Myrddin knew that all too well. But in his eyes, that wasn't the real reason why they were so close. Maeve and him, they were in perfect sync due to years of training. Even if she didn't have a voice, he was sure that they would still be close as they were now.
In the corner of his eye he could see Ezekiel look at him. And as Maeve kept talking to their guest, he narrowed his eyes ever so slightly. The signs the other made were barely noticeable. But this was their own language and the only real 'tongue' the blond man could sort of speak. The show off part he was used to, but it was what followed that made him more irritated. He moved his hand a bit more to the right, still somewhat neatly folded behind his back, but also just enough so that the other could see his hand. 'Behave yourself' he simply signed at him slowly. He didn't need any provocation right now. They were adults, dealing with something important. His brothers childish behaviour didn't have a place here. But he wouldn't be Myrddin if it didn't tug at him a little bit, because it did. Because he couldn't move away his greyish gaze from the other. He had done it again, hadn't he? What a talent the boy had for getting on his nerves.
And maybe he would sign something else to Ezekiel, but Chaska grabbed his attention again. So... With one more glance at his cousin, he turned his head back at the other. He nodded at her for a moment, showing a kind smile once more. He usually wasn't very good with pretending and putting on fake expressions, but that was just the thing. Myrddin was genuinely excited to see her again. It was always good to see family again, after all. And she wasn't like other formal meetings, where he had to behave a certain way. He was free to be a bit more loose here. And she made note of that. He smiled, nodding once more. He didn't mind, but he could feel that his familiar did mind. He wanted to look at her for a moment to see what it was, but decided against it. He knew why his celestial beast was against it. Even after all those years she addressed his mother by her formal title. Some things never change, after all.
She confirmed when his beast asked the question, grabbing onto Ezekiel for a moment. Myr blinked slowly as he looked at the two. Already close? How nice, Ezekiel must be thrilled. At least he got someone that clicked. Chaska went on to talk about the city and eventually invited him to join them. For a moment he clenched his jaw. He really didn't want to. His brother was already on edge, he could tell that much. And if he was being honest, he was too. The silver haired man just had that influence on them. But then... Ezekiel had to open his mouth. The blonde man turned his head from her to him and looked at the other for a moment. Ezekiel wasn't wrong. He had been absent for quite some time and for someone like him there was always work to be done. However... "While it's true that my master always has important duties to attend to, he has gracefully taken time out of his day to welcome the beautiful lady Chaska to our home," Maeve spoke on her own. The captain averted his gaze from his cousin and looked back at Chaska. "We'll gladly take you up on your offer, my lady," He smiled at her as Maeve finished up. However, the bird didn't follow. Her piercing gaze was set on the other man, clear irritation. She didn't like him, that much was clear.
Myrddin averted his grey eyes for a moment, turning away as he gestured to the rest of the garden. "Speaking of the garden," The beast spoke on his behalf. "Some of the roses have started to bloom yesterday, they're quite the sight to behold," Myr averted his eyes to the estate for a moment, wondering if Shy would join them for just a split second. He was already starting to feel a bit uncomfortable, but then again. He had to learn and overcome such obstacles on his own. He couldn't always seek out the other whenever he felt a bit down... Right? As the young captain started to walk, he could suddenly feel the bird turn on his shoulder. "Oh and where are my manners," He came to a halt, turning a bit as he held his arm a bit up so he could give the celestial beast some more space to perch. "I go by Maeve, it is my honour to meet you my lady," said the beast with a slight bow of her head. He tilted his head somewhat, slightly surprised. Oh well... He didn't know she hadn't seen Chaska before. Or maybe they had, when she had still been a mere fledgling. But while she did her introduction he shot another glare at Ezekiel. 'Don't do anything stupid' he signed slowly with one hand barely held behind his back. By Lythrana just be normal about all this for once in your life.

Chaska Vylasar
shed every skin that doesn't fit
even if they call you cold-blooded
even if they call you cold-blooded
It was quite strange to stand within the courtyard of her family's castle. The same courtyard where she, Deimos and the two men in her presence once played as the innocent, young children they used to be. She was certain that neither of them expected to meet again, under these twisted circumstances. And yet here she stood, tightly holding onto her cousin's arm. She felt him flinch against her touch, confirming his feelings towards the whole situation. The sorceress shortly bit down on her lower lip, silently praying not to have made things worse.
Unexpectedly, she noticed the warmth of his hand folded around hers, causing her to subconsiously hold her breath for a second as she stiffened under his touch. She absently nodded at his response, though the celestial bird was quick to disarm his words. Her eyes were stuck on the beast, amazed by the way her cousin had found a way to voice his thoughts through his familiar. A polite smile laced her lips, thanking the bird with a nod. "Thank you, Myrddin," she replied, shifting her gaze from the beast towards that of her cousin. She could imagine his schedule being busies than that of her and Ezekiel. So far, Myrddin had expressed a lot more courtesy upon her arrival.
Following his gesture she gazed upon the garden, taking in the beautiful roses that had gone unnoticed until now. "They're beautiful," she admitted, glad that the blonde and his bird had been able to bring an end to the awkward silences. For now, at least. As she gazed upon the blooming roses, the bird broke the silence once again, introducing herself as Maeve. The fact that it not only served as a translator for its familiar, but was also able to voice a mind of her own was astounding. "It's nice to meet you, Maeve," the sorceress replied, the faint smile on her face a little more genuine. "You and your familiar have a fascinating connection, I must say." While her attention had turned towards the blonde, she firmly held onto the arm of the silver haired man, wondering if he and his familiar shared a similar bond.

Ezekiel Vylasar
some children are simplyborn with tragedy in their blood
Ezekiel truly hated being in this position. He hated that he didn't have a choice in the matter and now he was exposed for everybody to taunt. And he just had to accept it. It was not fair. But Myrddin always had to stick his big nose in somebody else's business. Maybe he took revenge on him, for that night in Moonbright where Ezekiel had interrupted his memorial to his dad. He had to try his best to be the bigger man, but every time Ezekiel tried to walk away, Myrddin would come following like a love-struck puppy. But what annoyed him even more was that Myrddin thought he could think he was above him. Ordering him to behave himself like that? The tension on his jaw grew even more. ‘‘Leave’’ he signed back at him, ordering him, when he moved his hand over to Chaska's. It was only a subtle movement, but loud enough for his cousin.
Of course he would not leave. His betrothed stared at him as if she was starstruck and she just knew Myrddin would revel in it. Why would the man never just respect his wishes? By Lythrana, if only Chaska had never mentioned he could tag along. So the conversation started to move very one-sided very quickly, as Myrddin and Chaska started to speak to each other. But not for long, as the parrot started to chip in as well, which made his eyes roll to the back of his head. Ezekiel let his hand drop from that one of the girl on his arm and gestured to the garden. ‘‘Shall we get a move on, then?’’ he asked before his cousin or the bird could respond to the "fascination connection" part of the conversation.
The way Myrddin could get on his nerves was astounding. Ezekiel had his eyes on him like a hawk, so when he saw his hand drop behind his back, he knew what would be coming. He quickly glanced back up at him, raising his eyebrows slightly as if to say: "me?". He scrunched up his nose for a second and started walking forward, taking a quick glance at Chaska and giving her a quick smile, before returning his gaze to Myrddin. "You started being stupid" he signed with one hand. It was quite childish, but this dickhead should just fuck off to his own problems.

Myrddin Vylasar
❝ I'll never be that me again ❞
This kinda sucked. But it had to happen. Like biting through a sour apple, it was just something that had to be done. Like many things he didn't want. It never was easy when Ezekiel was in the picture after all. And he made that very very clear. In their own little language he found a way to weaponize it and hold it against him. He hated it. Because at the end of the day that was the only way of communicating he really had, beside from writing. Maeve was really acting on her own to impress Chaska. It was a part of him that kept that sense of duty high and could mute all the other things out. But he? He couldn't. He had always been that sensitive kid and through the years he really hadn't changed. The other signed him to leave and he narrowed his eyes once more at that gesture. He really had the balls to demand him to do such things? Hm... He tilted his chin a bit upwards and rolling his head a bit back as to loosen up the tension. 'Make me' he signed while making the motion. There was little the other could do about it. And like Maeve had told them, he really had planned for this. He knew their cousin would be his wife, but she was still family which meant he was also responsible for her welcome and her well being in Lythrania. Something he took very seriously. His mother would be happy if she heard he did well and that was a thought that kept him going.
Chaska had way better manners then his brother ever had and thanked him. He smiled at her when she did and he nodded. At least someone appreciated that he took time out of his day to help them. But well, the man never really appreciated anything he did for him. Everything was an attack and everything was bad. But he knew that that was just a two way thing. They both was hostile to one another for seemingly the same reason, but down it really wasn't. Myrddin knew all too well were all those negative thought of his nephew came from, but he tried to push it away. The loudest part of his mind being Maeve, who never could hold her tongue when it came down to it. So... the best course of action was just to move on with the tour and show her the gardens. It would keep the parrot talking and the lady's eyes focused on the plants around them. Which allowed the boys to just stare at each other and throw each other glares, a clear mutual feeling of dislike just hung around them. This really was tiring, what a nuisance. Chaska commented on the flowers and Maeve quickly answered her by bowing her head. Myr followed slowly after and looked at her once more. A small smile curling back on his lips.... Before he shot his gaze back at the grand house. Hm...
Of course the familiar had to introduce herself. She wouldn't be Maeve if she didn't hold up formalities. And luckily for him, the woman appreciated it. A soft smile came on his face when he saw this as he could feel his familiar perk up a little in excitement. Really, for a creature so mystical she was so simple. All she wanted was a bit of a gratitude and respect. That wasn't much to ask. He could already tell that the celestial bird started to like his cousin. Which was good. Myrddin didn't really have a strong opinion on her yet. He just had a sense about it all being a bit... Superficial. But he couldn't blame her. Even a blind man could see how tense this entire situation was. But if he were to believe some of the guards, they had been a bit awkward around each other earlier. So... If this was any better, he honestly didn't know. Eventually Chaska commented on their connection and before he or Maeve could respond, Ezekiel cut her off.
The bird glared at the man for a moment, before moving back to her spot on her masters shoulder. Myrddin looked at her for a moment, holding up his hand slowly. She slowly lowered her head, allowing the man to pet the creature softly over her head. It was alright. Soon after, they both went back to their proper posture and he nodded at Ezekiel. "Of course Ezekiel," Maeve spoke with a certain... Tone. It wasn't really disrespectful, but it was clear that she wasn't enthusiastic about him mixing in the conversation. So Myrddin walked forward, taking a turn at the next part of the garden. Which allowed them in a part that had some beautiful deeply coloured trees. The celestial beast lifted her eyes and looked at the flowers that had started to bud. White flowers, like their land counterparts. "These trees will one day bear one of Lythrania's speciality," The familiar spoke. "A green type of dragon fruit, which only really grows here in the city," She paused for a moment as Myr looked at the two for a moment. "I'm sure you'll get to try them soon enough. They really are something else," They were one of Myrddin's favorite, since they weren't as sweet as other things. They were more salty, which was more his taste.
And while the bird did her little talk, he looked at his brother. He really couldn't keep his eyes off him, could he? And there the other went, signing at him. Myr lifted his eyes a bit as he lifted his hand just a tiny bit to gesture at himself. Him? It was really him? He started it? 'Pretty sure it was you who had to use-' his signs being a bit greater, but still trying to subtle as he ended with the word Ezekiel signed at him earlier. He tilted his chin a bit upwards and nodded at him. 'Now stop being an idiot and do your job' For once in your life.

Her bethrothed had been suspisciously quiet during their conversation with the Governess' son. Not that he had been very chatty before. She had expected them to be closer, though, knowing that they shared a home. The two of them didn't seem like anything close to how she and Deimos behaved towards one another. Perhaps it could be a twin-thing, though she couldn't help but be surprised about the strange way they seemed to interact.
At least Myrddin's arrival gave her someone to talk to. Someone, or something who would actually responded with more than a few words. Despite his position, the sorceress enjoyed his company so far. Anything that would've saved her from the uncomfortable silence had been more than welcome.
Snapped out of her thoughts by the sudden movement of his hand atop hers, he nodded at his suggestion. The tour through the castle seemed far from finished, after all. With her arm still hooked into his, she followed Governess' son as he turned a corner towards a new part of the garden, taking in every bit of information the bird --or her cousin, she wasn't quite sure yet, had to tell her about it. A polite smile once again laced her lips. "I'm looking forward to trying them one day," the sorceress responed, genuinely interested in the things her cousin told her. After those words she turned her face towards Ezekiel, lowering her voice in hopes that only he would be able to hear her. "I assumed you were supposed to be the tour guide," she teased him, though she wasn't lying. So far, Myrddin took a better shot at trying to make her feel at home, and she appreciated the gesture.

Ezekiel Vylasar
some children are simplyborn with tragedy in their blood
This day could not be worse, really. He had planned to do this tour sweet and quickly. But he just had to give in, didn't he? Because he could not just start an outright fight with his cousin in front of Chaska. That was exactly the leverage Myr had on him, and it was infuriating. The only thing they had, was they they could speak without words. Only that was also not working in his favour, as Myr plainly stated "make me", which made Ezekiel even more mad. So the silver haired man just stared back with a look in his eyes that only promised: oh, I will.
The chatter continued. It was all about the flowers and what-not. But he would not let Myrddin explain in all the colors of the rainbow how amazing his little bird was. So when Ezekiel interrupted, it had his wanted effect and Myrddin agreed and moved on. Or, well, the bird agreed. The parrot was much worse in hiding her dislike towards him. At least one thing they could agree on. So Ezekiel looked back at Chaska and walked a few paces behind his cousin as they continued their walk in the garden. They started talking about the dragon fruit and Ezekiel cocked his head to the side a bit. "Something else". Pfft. ‘‘To be honest, they are a bit nasty,’’ the silver haired man said with a look upwards the dome. The sunlight pierced differently through the water. Which made in unable for the plant to use it's resources as a fruit-bearing tree on the surface would. It was not near as sweet as that fruit.
Then things got a bit difficult, as Chaska bowed a bit closer to him as she wanted to whisper something only for his ears to hear. But in the corner of his eyes he could see Myrddin signing to him. So he did not look back at Chaska as she told him she assumed he would be the tour guide. ‘‘Believe me, me too,’’ he said absent-mindedly when he glared angrily at Myr. Yes, he might have started using harsh words, but he had started by just showing up. And he again decided he wanted to be the boss of him. Ezekiel's lips became a very thin line as he moved his free hand from his side. "Then don't invade my job" he signed back at him. "Get a hobby and mind your own business."

Myrddin Vylasar
❝ I'll never be that me again ❞
They didn't need a situation right now. If Ezekiel wanted to be childish and cause a scene, then he could wait till later. He wouldn't hesitate to tell his mother if he did something right now. Call him a teachers pet or whatever, but it would be incredibly rude to act like that in front of his future wife no less. They had to make a good impression. He knew his brother didn't care much for all that, but that didn't mean he wouldn't leave it at that. It was just something Myrddin did. Always trying to be his best, to be perfect. And for him, but to an even greater extend his mother, he knew that was very important. She would kill him if she knew about these signs. But if he would explain it she would understand; he had tried to put Ezekiel in his place without causing a scene. Maybe she would be proud of him to act like that. Who knew, maybe she would even grant him a nod of respect. Kind of sad how he chased after even the tiniest sliver of approval of her, but it was all he had. And it was all he worked for. Because at the end of the day; this wasn't the life he wanted. But he had learned it didn't matter what he wanted, the only things that mattered was what was expected of him.
For now Ezekiel behaved pretty well and so he laid his focus on Maeve and Chaska, who had a pretty nice conversation. Well at least someone was having a good time and that was all that mattered. The guest always was more important then anything else. But his brother had to be negative about it, of course. It would be too difficult to comply to something, wouldn't it? What a stubborn, irritating human being he was. Maybe he should feel sorry for the girl instead of him. The woman had decent manners, was nice, and actually did an effort here. Man just imagine how easy everything would be if the silver haired man had just a speck of her enthusiasm or effort. But alas... All he could wish for was that there kids would take after their mother instead of their father. Because dear Lythrana, they really didn't need an Ezekiel junior running around. "That's just where your preference lies," Maeve retaliated on the others words. "Just because something is different, doesn't mean that they are bad. Or nasty for that matter. There's something good in all and some might enjoy certain things that you don't like as much," Myrddin already zoned out mid sentence, barely listening to his familiar as he focused back on his brother. What now?
They seemed to hold some conversation between each other, he honestly didn't care much for. It was only when he signed at him, that he couldn't help but lift one of his brows. Why he had some nerve, but that was nothing new. 'Maybe if you could do your job for once I could actually do that,' he signed back, still trying to be subtle with his gestures as he held it semi behind his back. But with how their conversation was going, it was... Getting a bit out of hand. Literally. 'This is my business,' he finished up. He kept his gaze fixated on the other as he nodded slightly. It was and he knew it. Because he would be the one who would tell their mother. Well... Ezekiel could do it too, but he doubted that she wouldn't ask him too. She would demand to know how it went, how he had carried himself and all that. This was important. Both as the son of the governess and part of the family. And the other knew that. So these accusations were just plain stupid. But what else could he expect of him?
