Details

Clarence isn't the tallest man around, but that never really bothered him. He is still quite muscular and strong for his size and can keep up with bigger people than him. He has quite the athletic build, which makes it clear that he's often working. This is all a result of him working around the orphanage and doing a lot of charity work. It isn't rare to find small scars on his arms because of this. An oopsie here or a scratch there, it can all happen. It's just clear that he is a hard working dad who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. He has a beautiful face, decorated with brown, short hair that gets very wavy whenever it gets longer. Usually seen with a neutral or smiling expression, he is actually quite easily red. His darkbrown eyes are very expressive, true windows to the soul. He has a fair skin that is often toned in summer when he goes out for charity work. Several imperfection could be found on his body, such as an indent or a freckle, but those are all just part of what makes him human. There's nothing in particular that stands out.

Whenever he's out doing charity work he is usually seen in less formal clothing. He uses old clothes whenever he's working for free as to keep it simple for cleaning. Whenever he's at the office and doing doctor work he is always dressed the part, very formal and clean. Clarence does take some time out of his day to remain clean and presentable. He thinks it's important to remain professional. It's therefore not rare to see him actually dressed in something formal whenever the occasion calls for it. This is, however, quite rare, as he is rarely seen on great formal party's.
Personality
Constellation The Archer
Alignment Neutral Good
Clarence is a good natured person, someone with a heart of pure gold. He has good intend in every thing he does. He is very compassionate and opens up his heart to anyone who accepts his help. He is a born caretaker, someone who stand by the wounded whenever he gets the chance. He can sense the pain in people, both mentally and physically, and will always try to help out however he can. He has a bit of a hard time, however, when it comes to approaching people. He is very timid and reserved and has a hard time with being social. Where he has a hard time with people, he's actually quite good with children and animals. He has a lot of imagination and patience, which goes well with working with kids. This also became apparant when he became a dad himself. He was born to fit the role of a father and does it with lots of love. Not only for his own daughter, but also for children who don't have parents to call their own. If it was possible, Clarence would adopt every soul in the orphanage. However, he is all too aware that he wouldn't be able to handle that role on his own. So he divides his time and love, so that his own little princess can still receive the most of it like she deserves.

The man is an introvert and actually prefers to spend his time alone. He doesn't like social events and is rarely seen at them. He hates party's, especially the great and fancy ones. Clarence is a man of charity and lives by that. He shares his own riches with the orphanage and its clear that the man could never leave a man in need. He kind of hates how Ashmoor is fundamentally built, where people can't seem to crawl out of bad beginnings. It isn't rare for the man to travel down to lower rings to offer up care for free to people who really need it. If it were possible, Clarence would do everything for free. This would not be maintainable, however, and he still has a position as doctor in the upper ring. He is known as a very intelligent and persistent practitioner who usually can get the job done. He has a lot of knowledge about a lot of things, not only medicine and anatomy, but also on other matters such as history and religion.

People would suspect that he is a very down to earth person, but in reality is Clarence a dreamer. He is an optimist that strives for a brighter future. He is, however, quite fragile and is easily put down. Because he is timid and reserved he is quite easily overpowered in a conversation. In the past this usually resulted in him finding shelter with his brother, something he still does from time to time. The doctor is just not very strong with words, but his actions could speak enough for him. His love language is clearly acts of service because of this. He finds great joy in doing things for others then saying something or buying them something. Clarence doesn't see riches in money, but in experiences and memories. Those are most important to him. He is very romantic in those regards and can whip up beautiful cosy things in an instant. However, Clarence doesn't fall in love easily. He still seeks it out wherever he goes, as he often feels lonely, but actually feeling something for someone has been so rare for him that he sometimes wonders if it's really for him.

Clarence has always had a great imagination. Something that left him with a childlike wonder. He is easily fascinated by things and sees wonder in all. And even though he has learn to hate and fear magic, which he does, he would lie if he said that it didn't fascinate him somewhat. It's something that every child has, curiosity, but it just never left him. This way of thinking can lead dangerous mindsets, which he is all too aware of, so he keeps it to an if than an actual action. Clarence is a true believer of the church and definitely believes that there's gods out there. He is very religious and often visits the church. His faith in Renestrae has led him to stay in one lane and follow the rules of Ashmoor perfectly. Although his flexible and curious mind keeps him open minded. He would never force his believes on someone else and thinks that no-one else should do the same. Let people be who they want to be, believe what they want to be. Find happiness for themselves, as long as no-one is hurt.

Ever since he was a kid he was somewhat of a caretaker and guardian. Running up to other kids who were hurt and trying to help them, it was clear that he had a lot of sympathy ever since he was able to walk. The man is very emotional and has a hard time keeping his emotions to himself. He is sensitive, but this also allows him to feel others emotions so very deeply. He understands them, knows what they are going through. It's something that has always made it difficult in times of loss in regards to his job. And even though it has become better over the years, he still finds it difficult to let go and realize that nothing more could be done.

History
Clarence and Charles were born as twins to Cassiopeia and an unknown man. They were the product of an affaire that didn't last long and they were cast away even swifter. Their uncle, James, took the role on him as father. His wife, Dorothy, taking the role on her as mother. And so the boys grew up believing these two were their actual parents. It was something that never really bothered Clarence. Some kids might have the thought that they were adopted, but not him. He had a very easy going and love filled childhood. He had a close bond with his brother as well as with his mother, who was very caring towards him. Dorothy always kept him close and taught him about things that people could find 'girlish' such as art, dresses and make-up. It was something that the boy fascinated for sure and his mother was always there to entertain those thoughts. He loved to pick flowers, give them away and generally make others happy by just... Being himself. A happy little boy that was always smiling.

But little boys become bigger boys and when his father found out about what his wife had done behind his back, he immediately put a stop to it. He got scolded, but his mother got scolded as well. Saying things along the lines that a boy should only play with things that boys like and that a boy shouldn't like the things that a girl likes. It broke his little heart for sure, and he did cry a lot, but after some time he got used to it. His father enrolled him in swordfight training at the age of 8 to try and get him to do something boyish. He wasn't very good with a sword or a spear or anything else. He was just an average fighter, but that didn't really bother his parents all too much. He was gonna be a nobleman after all, not a guard. He didn't need to be a good fighter. He had to shine in other aspects and so, it didn't take long before he was enrolled in private classes.

He learned about a lot of things, such as history, religion and even anatomy. When Clarence found out about the world of medicine, he was immediately intrigued. The young boy pursued the study of medicine swiftly after that. When his father noticed this, he was more than pleased and relieved as he had always been scared that the boy might turn out a bit... Well fruity, for the fact that he loved such girly things when he was younger. Clarence was a good student and learned quickly, which allowed him a bit more freedom in other regards. He no longer had to take up his sword fighting classes from his father and so he was allowed to explore his own interests in his own time. It was than that he found out about charity work when he was passing by the local orphanage. At the young age of 14 he actually applied to help out for the first time and every week he would come back. He would help with making meals or cleaning or even play with the younger kids. He found joy in the smiles he got from everyone around him and it sparked something in him. He wanted to do more for these people.

As he got older and his studies got more intense, he had to drop his charity work. When he turned 17 he was allowed to join an actual doctor to observe everything in person. He wasn't actually allowed to do anything but take notes. His days existed out of learning and studying, only to be filled with more things he had to get in his brain. Luckily for him he was quite adapt at learning. The doctor actually allowed him to be somewhat of an assistant after two years, where he first handed tools to the man, before, after even a longer time, he was allowed to actually do something. The man would sometimes even ask his opinion on things, such as a diagnose. And at first he did get things wrong, he slowly got the hang of it. Trail and error. Slowly getting better at it. As he got older, he slowly became more independent of the doctor that had become somewhat of a teacher to him.

However... During these times something notable did happen. All of a sudden his entire world was flipped around as it was announced that his brother and him were adopted. This made him very confused as he had never questioned his existence or his parents. In his confusion he sought a lot of guidance from his adoptive mother, Dorothy, and his brother. He would cry a lot, stating that he was scared that these statements would make him a different person and even question if his life had been a lie. He was lucky to have such a supportive family, as they would help him whenever he got down again. The news surely pulled him down a lot, but as time went on the wound slowly healed. He was able to keep the secret to himself and put it in the back of his mind. His parents were still James and Dorothy, not Cassiopeia. When he was able to grasp that properly, he finally found peace with it. It did, however, result in him becoming very awkward around his birth mother Not knowing how he should feel about her decision.

And when he finally found a place for his feelings, he also got a note from his teacher. The doctor stated that he was ready to start working on his own. Clarence took an examination for medicine and passed with flying colors, which resulted in him getting a proper degree to state that he was a doctor. He was extremely happy and proud of himself. He moved out rapidly after this thanks to his mother who had kept an eye out for a proper building. Clarence took his time to make the building a home and even extend it so he could have his own doctor's office. It was actually quite peculiar how much he did himself. It gave the whole thing a bit of an authentic vibe, but he loved it. It was home.

It had been on one day when he was picking up some more materials for a pond that he was building in his backyard that he met her. Esther was at the shop with her father, who was buying materials for their own pond. And as they started to talk to each other, a spark happened. Clarence wasn't quite sure how or what happened, but it was magical to say the least. Before they parted ways, they exchanged addresses and from that day on they wrote each other everyday. Letter by letter they got to know each other a bit better. She wrote about the birds and the sunsets and her many ballet practices she had... And he wrote about his little charity projects, his work and how he secretly loved to make small plushies. And it wasn't quite clear what it was, but they slowly opened up more towards each other. Sharing little secrets here and there about themselves. Day after day, letter after letter. Until one day he stood before the Baux estate with a bouquets of roses; "May I take your daughter out for dinner?"

They had a lovely evening, something that they both cherished forever. And after that evening he slowly went more and more to her house. She would sometimes even join him at the orphanage or wait outside his house whenever he was working late. And after they would make a walk through the city, holding hands as they watched the night sky together. Small things like that, a young love that just went right. And even though it had been in the back of his mind, to ask her to marry him, he didn't have the courage. And she knew this. So, on a beautiful winter day they decided to go down to the middle ring to see some shops. It was there that Esther dropped the question to him. Nothing fancy and not even a ring was presented. No. It was just a simple "Why don't we get married and have kids of our own?" And that was enough for him to finish it up with a "I would love that,"
And all was history.

They got married a few months later, at the age of 25. Shortly after this Esther was expecting their first child. However, she miscarried only a few months into the pregnancy. This made them very concerned, especially Clarence who had noted some other things that had been happening to his wife. She was getting more tired, her hair was starting to fall out and she was generally very sluggish. As a doctor himself he knew that something was wrong, but he still sought out a second opinion. This doctor stated the same as he did; Esther was sick. So... They tried medicine. But as weeks turned into months, she didn't become better. Clarence had to look on as his wife slowly became more and more sick over the months, becoming even confused in her actions. She became forgetful and would sometimes even get aggressive, only to cry out in regret shortly after. She lost most of her hair, which resulted in her becoming very self conscious about her looks. Clarence felt horrible about what was happening to her, but still tried to support and love her as much as he could. Day by day, some days more difficult than others. But Clarence kept on with what he had promised her; through sickness and health. He would love her despite it all.

She became pregnant again, which did lift her spirit somewhat. The pregnancy was a beacon in the darkness... And this time, things did seem to go right. Esther gave birth to a beautiful baby girl which they called Ella, named after Esther herself. Clarence loved the little girl so much and for a while, things seemed to go well... Well if you didn't take his brother into account. A couple of hours before Ella was born some people dragged him into his office, wounded as if he had been mauled by a creature. As Charles was losing bad quickly, Clarence made the decision to operate on his brother first to save his life. This allowed him to save his brother, but miss the actual birth of his daughter. Although some could say that to be a bit of a shame, he didn't regret it. All were well and he couldn't imagine a world without his brother. When his brother awoke some days later he came to the conclusion that he might have become a lycan, but kept quiet about it first. That was until the first moon. He locked his brother up in his basement and let the beast rage there. A practice they would do for all months to come. When Ella turned one, Esther's illness worsened once again. Her mental state becoming even more unstable, Clarence made the difficult decision to ask for assistance at home as his beloved wife was becoming a hazard to their child. But soon after her mental health deteriorated, so did her body. In only a couple of weeks she became nothing more than skin and bones, barely recognizable. And he, he did his best to stay at her side till the very end.

It was during spring time, a bit before Ella's second birthday, that Esther passed away at the age of 26. This made Clarence a widower on the age of 28. He was heartbroken about her loss and was in shambles. He tried to bury his grief in his work, in his charity work, in his daughter. Slowly taking on more and more work as to drown out his own feelings. Now, months later, Clarence still misses her dearly. However, there is some peace as to know that he did get a chance to say goodbye. It does help with the pain, but he still feels it so very deeply.
