Details

He carries himself with a sense of pride, not overly confident, but he knows his worth and he acts like it. With his regular size, clad black hair and pale complexion he doesn’t stand out that much. Nor does he want to. Knowing how to act around people that are higher in standing, is something that has been stomped inside of him. So you won’t ever see him acting out of order.

Clothing

Often dressed in heavy armor while on duty, switching it up for leather armor while training. The decoration on the armor, certainly on his shoulders, is in theme of a lion. The Efrain’s see this animal as a symbol and use it very often.

As far as colors of his regular or leather armor go, Shyam stick to earthly tones  or black.

Shyam is a hard-working man. He knows what he wants in life and he fights for it. Wanting to be the best in everything he puts his mind too. That little perfectionist streak made him who he is today. A well renowned fighter that shows little to no fear in battle. But of course there is more to a man than his skills.

He has been brought up with an extreme sense of loyalty, kindness, a lot of love. Something that still shows to the people closest to him, being his father and sister. They are one of the few people that know him best, since he can be rather distant and cold towards strangers. People that don’t know him often stumble against an icy wall, only acting polite. Yet with very short answers. With isn’t as welcoming.

Often he is seen as a mediator among the guards, given that his moral compass isn’t entirely messed up. He sees everything rather black and white. There is no gray zone when it comes down to it. When you’re right, you are. If not, well then you best come forward with it or else. While everything he does in life is quite calculated, he does have a knack of making rather impulsive decisions from time to time.

With the hope of the family resting on his strong shoulders, he does feel some pressure to keep up appearances. Knowing that both his father and uncle count on him to make true on what his cousin has forsaken.

Bond with his close family is really good, doesn't like his cousin so much.

Over the years Shyam has mastered his magic as well as he could. Not yet being a master in it, but he certainly has enough experience to keep the fog up for an extended period of time. He uses fog to blind his foes so he can either escape or attack them without being seen. This in the form of either a dome that would appear between him and his opponent or in the version of a maze with pulling up walls of fog.

Since he hasn’t mastered the magic completely the fog has a limited range. In an extremely hot environment like Xaila will keep the fog from actually materializing, rendering him useless.

Shyam is a ferocious swordsman. He shows quick thinking and resourcefulness in battle. Due to years of training with warriors that outrank him, he has honed his skill close to perfection. Often showing some fancy footwork in the process, since good footwork is key with sword fighting.

This story begins on the fifth of the Cold Moon during a stormy night. Born as the first son of Orpheus, a moon mage guard, and Tinuviel, a boat builder, he was regarded as the star of the family. Those very first years were quite simple and quiet, a normal childhood in some regards. This, however, ended quite abruptly with the passing of his mother when he was three years old. His father was heartbroken about it, but there was a light in these dark times. As Tinuviel had died while giving birth to their daughter. Giving her own life so that their child could live. And even though Orpheus grieved, being broken and shattered by the loss of his love, he didn't give up. Despite the pain, even though he wanted to give it all up, he didn't. He got himself together, mostly for his kids. He wanted to grant them everything they ever wanted. And so he worked and fought for those desires, for their future.

His father taught him about moon magic quite early in life. Orpheus was a talented moon mage himself, bending water as if it was child’s play. And as he showed his son, he slowly taught the boy all about it. But that wasn't all. His father wanted more for his son, so he started with guard training from a young age. Something that wasn't so rare for his family. He was great with the sword and even showed great promise with horseback riding. A truly talented young boy to say the least. He learned how to act like a guard, show proper manners like one and generally just be a good soldier all together. In some ways it didn't come as a surprise that Shyam was gifted as well with moon magic when he turned 8. At this young age he showed affinity for the craft, and it didn't take long for his father to pick up on it and teach him more. His days were filled with classes. From theory classes to magic training, to endless sword fighting drills. Everything was covered and so was his time as well. Being molded into a good and honorable guard, so that he could make his family proud and be the star boy that he was.

When he got a bit older, he started to join jousting games as well as join several hunts. He learned many new skills during this time, skills that couldn't be achieved by reading books, but rather by experience. It did him well to do these things, be out and about, and learn many new but also familiar things. His achievements quickly became known amongst people and well, people talked. As his father got him a position with a noble Lemurian family who wanted to teach the young boy everything about the ropes of being a guard. It was during these times that his academic and religious studies picked up as well. He learned a lot about the code of conduct for guards while working for this noble family. Working along great guards himself helped him greatly with growing as both a person and a guard himself. And even though this job and his studies took a lot of time out of his day, he still made sure to keep in touch with his father, who still helped him with practicing his peculiar way of using moon magic, and sister.

When he turned 14 it was decided that he would pick up on more difficult matters as well as push his training to a new level. He was taught about many things such as castle and siege warfare as well as the history of Odiria. Some diplomacy, general formalities and certain religion things were taught to him. Alongside the fact that he was expanding his knowledge, he also started to perfect more of his swordsmanship as well as jousting and hunting. And even though he had little time in his day for himself, he still made sure to make the most of it, learning more about himself as well as his family. His father had always stayed in touch with his far-off family who lived overseas, so it wasn't rare to learn more and more about them. It became clear how great the Efrain legacy was, especially when it came down to them being guards and soldiers. Even his uncle, his father’s brother, lived up to this with great honor. And so also Shyam started to show more and more progress, showing off many talents and great skill for his age. As he started to attend some tourneys as well, it became clear to the public and everyone around him that he had grown quite a bit. Not only as a man, but also as a warrior. But for him, it was mostly to see how he measures up against different opponents.

He still served the noble family with much grace, which allowed him to travel all over the nation. He learned a lot about the different cities, but also about different people, different ideas. And as he met more and more people, he also found a spark here and there. These were no more than flings, a girl here or a boy there. But Shyam was always on the move, never settled, as he still served the family. And he was young, of course, so most of these affairs were just for fun, for experimenting, to learn more about himself, about who he was. To be somewhat of a rebel teen despite his strict life. One day, however, when he returned home there was some peculiar news to be shared. His father had decided to remarry, something his sister wasn't pleased by at all. It was clear that there was a lot of tension between her and his new wife. She loathed the woman with her whole heart, something that was understandable. However, for Shyam it was more important that his father had found new happiness. Orpheus had always been heartbroken about the loss of his late wife, so there had always been some sort of hope that one day, he would find that love again somewhere else. All he could do now was believe that that day had come. Other news reached them as well regarding his cousin, Lucian, who had fallen from grace. The news brought new expectations for him, as his uncle, Aeron, started to put his trust in him as well. He was now the family's golden boy, the one who was supposed to make the family proud, to be their pride. To be the star he was meant to be.

And amongst the chaos, change and confusions he finished his training as a guard at the age of 21. He stepped away from the noble family so that he could start working for the Lythranian, royal guard. This was somewhat of a new environment for him, but he wasn't out of place at all. He found himself quite quickly in his new position and was greeted with much praise for his skills and knowledge. He even met a feisty, mute boy who was still an apprentice at the time. The Vylasar heir could be quite annoying, but as time went on, he learned how to speak with him as Myrddin taught him his 'sign language'. The boy became a guard in his own regards, became more docile and calmer and eventually even became the captain of the guards himself. It was then decided that Shyam would become his personal guard and he complied. Traveling along the young man wherever he went, even if the other didn't want him to.

Some time has passed and for Shyam that didn't hold much good. After the attack on Myrddin he was thrown into jail by Lady Vylasar, his mental health took a turn and due to this the man his hair has lost all color and is now white. Right now, he has lost all footing with the world as he knew it. He isn't actively completing his duties and with how things are going, there is the big possibility that he won't make it out of that dark place.
