Liliandil Eldrin

Details

Liliandil is a fairly pretty elf. Wether or not you find her attractive, she is definitely striking. She is quite tall, with a slender frame and porcelain skin. She has long silver-blonde hair that falls far over her shoulders and appears white in the sun- or moonlight. Her heart-shaped face highlights her large deep brown eyes and her defined cupid's bow.

Impressions & Attitude

Her demeanor is calm and a tad shy. Her voice is light as if it is made out of air, and she often talks in a bit of a whisper. She prefers quietness above a bustling atmosphere. You'll often find her observing instead of socializing. When she moves, she does so gracefully, giving the illusion that she is perpetually dancing.

Clothing

In the garments Liliandil wears her heritage is clearly visible. Her dresses are well-made, showcasing the wealth of her family. She often dresses in shades of white, lavender and blue, made of silk and tulle. She isn't particularly fond of extravagance and prefers to dress herself in something more low-key yet elegant. She prefers fine jewelry over anything too grand. 

'Strange', 'remarkable' and 'otherworldly' are all words that have been used to describe Liliandil. She understands somebody's nature in a way that a regular person can't. This, together with her ability to sense someone's feelings and thoughts have led to many thinking she's eccentric. Too eccentric, perhaps. When getting to know her, however, you'll find that she's a very caring and gentle soul. Few things make her more uneasy than pretending to be someone she isn’t.

She often seems quiet or unassuming. The cause of this is her magic, which can be quite overwhelming. As a coping mechanism, she happily loses herself in daydreams to distance herself from her environment. Fortunately, like flowers in the spring, Liliandil’s creativity and idealism can bloom even after the darkest of seasons. Due to her isolated lifestyle, in combination with her upbringing, she can be quite prejudiced towards other species. Still, there is something in her that is so inheretly curious about human nature.

Liliandil longs for deep, soulful relationships. However, people often tend to stay away from her after getting to know her. Her ability to effortlessly understand someone's nature, albeit not on purpose, can make her seem intrusive of someone else’s deepest thoughts and feelings. She can be vulnerable to internalizing other people’s negative moods or mindsets. She tends to feel directionless or stuck until she connects with a sense of purpose for her life. She can sometimes feel lonely, adrift in a world that doesn’t seem to appreciate the traits that make her unique.

Liliandil never had much to worry about while growing up. Her family branch was a particularly lovely and comforting one.

Liliandil’s magic is heavily associated with emotions, subconsciousness and dreams. She is on a near proficient level, but is by no means a master at her magic yet.  Some techniques she uses include:

• Claircognizance: She can gain information about a person, place or event through intrinsic knowledge, as it just "comes to" her mind. In addition, she could psychically perceive information from another’s past if it is a triggering subject or should they think about it.
  
• Clairsentience: She can sense the past, present, or future physical and emotional states of others without the standard five senses.  
  
• Emotion manipulation: She can sense emotions, including feelings, moods and their effects on other people and creatures. She can manipulate emotions whether by increasing, decreasing, causing or otherwise channeling emotions.
  
• Illusion awareness: Because of her psychic magic, she is very aware of the true reality around her. She can see through illusions that others might try to deceive her with. Alternatively, she can try to potentially interact with the illusions without losing touch with reality. She isn’t very experienced in this last bit.
  

As with all magic, it requires mental fortitude. If Liliandil’s not careful, she may overload her own mind. She might have intuitive hunches when her power is triggered but never be fully sure of what she sees or feels. She’s also not a mind reader, so she doesn’t read someone’s direct thoughts, nor can she manipulate the mind. Emotion manipulation requires training to reduce chances of any side-effects and keep the user's own emotions controlled. As of now, she can only manipulate emotions through touch.

Another aspect of Liliandil’s magic is her sleep magic. Through this, she is able to use a form of magic that is related and based on sleep. She could cast a spell that induces slumber, or that wakes one up from slumber.

• Dream magic: She is able to use magic that affects and influences dreams. They can enter the dreams of others, influence and control them. Another aspect of this is by dealing with nightmares and related bad dreams. With dream magic, she can be both awake and asleep to walk in another one’s dreams.
  

EARLY YEARS

Liliandil Iminyë Eldrin was born as the child of Fëanor Eldrin and Arwyn Aerendyl. The Eldirns were a quite wealthy and respectable moon elf family. They are nowhere near as important or prominent as the Aerendyls, yet they have always stood by their superiors. Most of the Eldrins serve as legal advisors or philosophers. The couple lived in a grand manor house by Lake Celestia, not far from the city of Silvercrest. Liliandil's father works as a legal advisor to the Governor, while her mother stayed at home to take care of the estate and the children. The moon elf's childhood was nothing to complain about. She was given tutors that taught her all she needed to know, ranging from history and philosophy to astronomy.

CHILDHOOD YEARS

From a young age, Liliandil didn't showcase much interest nor talent for te traditional moon magic such as waterbending. It worried her parents, yet they were wise enough not to push the already introverted girl to perform better. Eventually, when she was twelve years old, one of her many magic tutors pointed out that Liliandil's capabilities might lie with the psychic aspect of moon magic rather than the literal sense. This felt like an epiphany to both the little moon elf as her parents. Yet it didn't make the girl any more sociable or traditionally suited as a wife.

TEENAGE YEARS

During her teenage years her magic really started to show, most of the times in a negative sense. The girl was often overwhelmed by just how much she felt around the emotions of others. She also started internalizing them, not knowing better than to focus on it. Everything that was expected from an Eldrin/Aerendyl in the way of attending social events made her very unhappy. One day, one of her siblings even mused that it would drive her insane. Her parents eventually made the decision to sent her to a temple just outside the city of Silvercrest where she could live in peace, yet not too far away from her loving family. While moving away from home was particularly hard on Liliandil, she soon learned that the secluded lifestyle was something she thoroughly enjoyed.

ADULTHOOD

Liliandil was asked to move to the temple of Lythrana in Moonbright when she was twenty-three. The old librarian of the temple had recently passed away and since that was her expertise, she seemed like the logical candidate. Living in the city wasn't something that was high on the moon elf's priority list. However, the promise of a new magic tutor who lived in the temple was too good to pass on. Especially if she could finally learn to control her own magic.

NOW

Not too long ago the monarchy was abolished and Moonbright would become the new capital. Thus the temple would also be the new religious centre. It didn't particularly excite Liliandil, who wasn't exactly your usual outgoing priestess. However, she didn't dare make any complaints. Nowadays she still works in the library, attending to old scriptures rather than lost souls in need of guidance. Either that, or she's cuddling with animals on the beach.
