Sarya Elaris

Details

Sarya is a beautiful woman with beautiful curves. She’s a little bit sturdier but certainly not fat, or anything even close to that. Her eyes are very darkly colored and her hair is almost raven black with little hints of brown in it. She also has a very light skin color for someone coming from Xaila, but this is because some of her far ancestors came from Lemuria and Ravaryn. If she spends more time in the sun, her skin will ultimately become a bit more tanned, and she will get little freckles over her nose and cheeks. But most of the time, especially during summer, she wears protective clothes against the burning sun.

Most of the time Sarya wears dark colors, not only because the color ultimately cools her down during the hottest summer days, but also because the color resembles the kind of magic she practices within the Tribe. However, only the sisters actually know that she practises dark magic. Sarya is also a very good dancer, and she is able to move her body very elegantly to the music.

Mysterious/Observant
At first sight, Sarya seems very mysterious, and that probably has something to do with the fact that most of the time she surrounds herself with black clothes, hiding her face very often when she’s out in public. She is very observant, constantly keeping an eye on everyone in the room. Keeping herself silent and in the background for the most part. Only ever revealing herself when she feels the need to.

Honest/Fierce
Most of the time she can be very honest, never really saying anything she doesn’t actually mean, which can sometimes hurt people as well. The sisters usually appreciate her honestly, and they rely on her speaking the truth about the things she sees. Especially when it comes down to protecting the tribe and their village, she can be quite fierce as well. Ofcourse, she is a trained warrior as well, because most sisters are, and she will choose to fight if she needs to protect anyone from her tribe.

Kind/Loving/Sensitive
Even though she can be very honest and direct, she actually has a soft nature, being very kind and loving underneath the surface. This is usually something only the people close to her know, because she doesn’t show her soft side to just anyone. She has a high wall built around herself (It’s not actually that high though) to protect her from people hurting her, but every now and then someone is able to make that wall crumble.

Gloomy/Lonely
There is always a certain amount of gloom hanging around her. Due to the things she has been through, there’s a lot of sadness inside her heart. She has a hard time letting people in, but when they are able to use the right words, they can make her fall very easily. Deep down, she is very lonely, but she doesn’t want to be.

Sarya used to be a Sun mage, but after certain events in her life, she switched to Dark magic because she felt more attracted to it. She kept the book in which she used to practice Sun magic, but she isn’t able to use those spells anymore since she lost the connection to that deity. Instead, she began to write down her spells tied to dark magic and mostly dark alchemy in it. She has now been practicing dark magic for 10 years.

Dark Alchemy is her experse, mostly because she does it more often. She uses it to help the Sisters protect the city and the river, and well, indirectly, to protect the royal family inside the capitol as well. The Sisters are able to keep an eye out on everything that happens in their own city, but in Al-Qahil as well, due to this dark alchemy. Using the eyes of animals to spy on people they don’t trust for example.

Sarya also enhances the weapons of the sisters with the venom of snakes, to protect them in fights. One cut from their spears is enough to poison someone, and that person will need an antidote (made by the sisters, aka Sarya) to survive. They tend to use this as a strategy for questioning as well, to get more truthful answers.

For the actual use of dark magic, like taking life energy from animals or people, and then using it, will drain a lot more of her energy. She usually has to pay a price for it as well, because you can’t take something without replacing something for it in return. This hadn’t always gone right in the past, and she knew that, so she is a little bit hesitant to use this. But, when necessary, she will most certainly save the life of her sisters using this method.

Sarya was born in the Elaris family, a family that has been a part of the Sun Sisters for many ages. They have always been faithful to the tribe and they have always proven their worth to them, therefore they are an important part of the organization. Both her parents were fierce warriors and sun mages, fighting for the Sisters. Her mother being a very important figure eventually even got chosen as the Mother of the tribe. This had to do with the fact that she had six daughters in the tribe, acting as Sisters.

Due to the fact that her mother had a lot of children, Sarya always had to share her attention. And later, when she became the mother, all the sisters became her children, in a way. So, they all had to share even more of her attention. This also taught most of the Elaris children how to be independent from a very young age, however, wherever they actually needed their mother, she would be there for them. Taking care of all of them.

All of the Elaris children were also raised to become sun mages - except for their only brother due to men not being allowed to practice magic inside their tribe - and this was very much the same for Sarya. It was only during her training to become a sun mage, that she began to feel more attracted to dark magic when she witnessed one of their dark mages save a sister’s life by sacrificing a desert cow, using all kinds of spells and draining the cow from all it’s life energy, passing it over into the woman almost dying during childbirth. It completely mesmerized her and to her it felt like a calling to practise the same kind of magic the woman used. She broke her vow made to the deity Xeion, and began to learn dark magic instead.

One day, while her teacher was away, another woman in the tribe almost died while giving birth to a child. This was something that usually didn’t happen a lot so they hadn’t expected it, but during this one, Sarya was the only one present who was able to use dark magic. She had learned the spells the other woman had taught her, but while performing them on the woman, something went wrong. The woman lived, and the cow did too, but the magic had taken its toll on Sarya, and soon it became clear that she wasn’t able to bear any children for herself anymore. Not that she ever had any children, she had not been married yet and never tried for one since she had only been 21 years old. But now she had been robbed of ever having the opportunity, and she did not have an easy time accepting that.

Even though the gift of creating life was very much celebrated in the tribe, Sarya’s mother and most of her sisters were very supportive towards her. After all, all the sisters cared for each other, as if they were family. And, in the end, she had safed two of their Sisters for it. Yet, Sarya feels like she’s being pitied, and feels like the sacrifice had been too precious to her. Therefore she still tries to find ways to gain it back, but thus far, she has not been successful.
