• Blocking fire: She can defuse and extinguish an oncoming fire blast from another firebender by using a swift kick, jab, or any other defensive manoeuvre, allowing her to stop attacks.
  
• Fire streams: A basic firebending ability, firebenders can shoot continuous streams of fire from their fingertips, fists, palms, or legs.
  
• Fire whip: An extension of a fire stream, this continuous stream of flame has a semi-tactile quality and can be utilised as a whip.
  
• Flame redirection: Firebenders are capable of changing the course of an incoming fire blast and redirecting it back at the attacker using fluid motion.
  
• Shield of fire: One of firebending's few defensive techniques, this technique creates a protective shield of fire in front of, or around, a firebender that can deflect attacks and explosions.
  

• Blue fire: the ability to bend completely blue flames, which are hotter than the orange flames produced by most other firebenders. The production of blue fire is attributed to prodigious skill in firebending.
  

• Fire blade: By narrowing and condensing their flame projections, firebenders can create thin blades of fire to slice through objects without completely destroying them. (Not yet mastered)
  
• Fire lashes: An even further extension of the fire whip/stream, firebenders can create a long lash of fire and bring it down on their enemies, or create smaller, multiple lashes and envelop an area with fire. (Not yet trained)
  
• Breath of fire: A special technique that allows the user to warm their body with firebending and breathing control, similar to an airbender's heat regulation ability. (Not yet trained)
  

• Charged attacks: Certain firebenders have been shown charging their attacks before releasing them, allowing them to create enormous blasts of fire.
  
• Fire augmentation: Firebenders can also control the size and intensity of any nearby flames and can draw them in to manipulate them at will.
  
• Jet propulsion: Skilled firebending masters are able to conjure huge amounts of flame to propel themselves at high speeds on the ground or through the air.
  
• Wall of flames or pyre wall: One of firebending's few defensive techniques, either a situated explosion or controlled inferno, this wall of concentrated flames acts as a barrier to incoming attacks. It is a more powerful version of a fire shield.
  
• Heat control: Many firebenders have demonstrated the ability to control heat in various forms and alter the temperature of solids, liquids, and gases.
  

• Briseis Ishani Daetrys was born as the daughter of Princess Sahirah Daetrys and Amaro Elaris. She was born out of a short lived affair, a flame that soon burned out. Her mother, afraid of the prejudice against anyone who wasn’t a sun elf, kept the identity of her father hidden to everyone. Her father did not even know he was one.
  
• Even though her mother kept the identity of her father hidden, it was still a scandal for Sahirah to have a child while unwed. It quickly became a rumour that a missing father must have been the result of an affair with someone who wasn’t a sun elf.
  
• Her mother married a sun elf called Atlas soon after Briseis was born. Some of the rumours died, yet they would always remain and she would always be looked down-upon.
  
• As a royal Briseis grew up without much to worry about. Yet the lothesome looks she received were hard to ignore, even as a child. Because of this she always felt out of touch with society, no matter how much she wanted to belong.
  
• The sun elf was a fine student, particularly good at history and art. Much to her mother’s pleasure, she was also an exceptional magic student. When Bri was six, she started training extensively, and to this day has never stopped.
  
• In a society where she never fully belonged, she always sought the approval of her mother. While she had a good relationship with her mother, this approval was still hard to gain. A perfectionistic streak was born.
  
• As a teen Briseis remained the girl everyone wanted her to be: a perfect royal. Yet inside a storm was growing. No matter how hard she’d try she would never fully gain the approval of others. This quiet anger outed itself in her magic and she had a hard time controlling it.
  
• Eventually, as Bri grew up, she learned how to control the quiet anger. When she was eighteen her flames turned blue.
  
• Also at age eighteen was the Proving. Briseis had never been a strong physical fighter, but with her magic she should be able to get through it. She drew the straw that led to a fearsome lion. Even though she held a dagger in her hand, she soon dropped it and unleashed her fire on the beast. With a few slashes, it died without suffering a cruel fate.
  
• When she was twenty-one, her talent for persuasion, intimidation and stealth were eventually recognized by Radhja herself. Her aunt employed her to listen in on her meetings, listen where she could. After all, Briseis would never be the most important person in the room.
