With the looks to bring just about every man —or woman— to their knees, Lumina is a sight to behold. She isn’t particularly tall and has a petite figure. Her face is almost pixie-like with her big dark eyes and plump lips. Sometimes she’ll wear makeup, which can make her face look rather captivating and daunting. One thing about her appearance that she regularly likes to change is her hair colour, with the help of a talented illusionist. While her natural hair colour is a white shade, she’ll opt for a strawberry blonde shade every now and then.

Impressions & Attitude

The moon elf carries herself like only someone of her status would. She moves with grace and alludes regality. Her eyes show a cunningness that shows she knows how to manipulate the world around her. With a rather angelic appearance it is easy to underestimate her, which would be a grave mistake.

Clothing

Lumina’s style depicts her cunning nature as the ever shrewd politician. In colours of white, blue, grey and black she shows off her status. While she does own garments that are more conservative, her gowns are usually skin-baring with a signature plunging neckline. They are beautiful feats of fashion, but the focus is less on the dress and more on her body. She knows what works for her and that’s deep necklines, no sleeves, and back cutouts. She takes it even further by sweeping her hair off of her shoulders to show more of her neck, but not everything is about sexual seduction. Tucking her hair behind her ears or keeping it away from her face highlight her pointy ears and moon elf heritage. Her statement jewelry pieces either worn on her neck, or incorporated on her neckline.

Lumina is a natural-born leader: she utilises her remarkable charm and self-assurance to take charge. However, she is also characterised by an often ruthless level of rationality, using her drive, determination and sharp mind to achieve whatever end she’s set for herself. She is a true powerhouse, and she cultivates an image of being larger than life – and often enough she is.

If there’s anything Lumina loves, it’s a good challenge, and she firmly believes that she can achieve any goal. And if there’s anyone Lumina respects, it’s someone who is able to stand up to her intellectually, who is able to act with a precision and quality equal to their own. However, she also has a particular skill in calling out others’ failures with a chilling degree of insensitivity, and this is where she really starts to run into trouble.

She can be particularly coldhearted and vicious – especially around those she deems as ‘lesser’ than herself. She easily overwhelms people with a more sensitive personality. Emotional expression isn’t Lumina’s strong suit; she tends to distance from her emotions, especially in public, and this is felt directly by a much broader swath of people. Since her loss of status, Lumina often feels adrift in the world, having lost her sense of purpose. She can be quite sneering when asked about it and acts out in a way of indulging in matters unfit for a former princess.

Parents & Siblings

Lumina was born into the Elaéydar family. She was always particularly close to her father, and felt the absence of a mother since she was young. She showed ambition for the things that her father considered worthwhile, for which she got his adoration and devotion in return. While Lumina loves her little brother dearly, for the reason that family comes before anything, they differ vastly in personality. Lumina has always been the tough one. She has never truly forgiven Ezriel for giving up his crown, something that she always thought should land on her head instead of his.  

Lumina is gifted with waterbending magic. As a waterbender, Lumina can shape and manipulate water. Waterbenders also possess the ability to alter the physical state of the water they manipulate, between liquid, solid and gas, at will.

Some basic techniques she uses are:

• Wave: By moving a large mass of water without separating it from its original source, advanced waterbenders can create waves of nearly any size. They do this by using an upward movement that raises the source, which they subsequently send away in their desired direction.
  
• Water whip: The water whip is a commonly used move that involves creating a lashing tendril of water to swipe at an opponent. The shape, size, and length are all determined by a waterbender's control, and more powerful benders can create larger whips, or ones of greater finesse.
  

Unlike most waterbenders, Lumina’s magic focuses mostly on cold manipulation or Cryokinesis. This is applied by creating, shaping and manipulating both ice and snow. Ice provides a degree of hard lethality, while snow can be considered the ‘softer’ application.

Some snow/ice bending techniques she uses are:

• Breath of ice: She can use the water vapor in their breath to rapidly freeze objects or opponents. For a more advanced version of the technique, the user takes a deep breath and exhales the air as a cloud of freezing mist.
  
• Creeping ice: A waterbender can send a ray of ice on the ground, speeding at an opponent to freeze them. This technique freezes a trail of water beginning with the waterbender performing the move and ending with their targets freezing.
  
• Ice projectiles: She is able to rapidly shoot ice projectiles at her opponents. E.g. freezing a stream of water into a spike and firing it at the intended target. (Not yet mastered)
  
• Ice dome: An advanced technique, she may surround a foe in a sphere of water and freeze it, trapping their opponent inside. Alternatively, she can use the dome as a protective shell around themselves. (Not yet mastered)
  
• Ice blade: She can create a sword-like blade of ice. (Not yet trained)
  

Some master-ice bending techniques that Lumina will master at age 50+ include:

• Ice wall/ice shield: Waterbending masters are able to freeze water in front of her, creating a shield or even a large wall of ice.
  
• Water/ice gliding: With a sufficient amount of water available, a skilled waterbender can cover a large area of the ground with ice, trapping their enemies' feet in ice while allowing them to slide around. The size and length are all determined by a waterbender's control, and more powerful benders can create larger floors.
  
• Ice prison: This rare technique covers an opponent in a prison made of ice. By finely controlling the position of the person within, this technique can restrict the motions of an opponent's hands, thus rendering them powerless.
  

Every bender has weaknesses, including Lumina.

• The further she is from the source in Lythrania, the more difficult bending becomes. In the case of waterbending, a waterbender's ability to perform all of the waterbending they are capable of is significantly dependent on the amount of water available.
  
• Her power is also connected to her present emotional state. If she were to lose her temper, her waterbending force is intensified, but in turn, control is lost.
  
• Losing control also means being vulnerable to frostbite if the temperature of the ice she manipulates gets truly low.
  
• Because her magic has been trained in such a focused area, she is unable to perform most other applications well. She might be able to create some temporary illusions, yet they last no longer than an hour. Her healing abilities are also limited to small cuts only.
  

EARLY YEARS

Lumina Celestia Elaéydar was born as the youngest child of King Alastor and Queen Helena. Being born a moon elf meant receiving a great deal of adoration from her father, ever since she was young. The only thing that was absent in her life was a mother, as Helena sadly never got to hold her baby after the first time. The queen died only moments after giving birth to her youngest daughter.

CHILDHOOD YEARS

The little princess had a golden childhood. She was granted the best tutors in all matters that would shape her into a perfect woman. She showed a great deal of talent for history and politics. Moreover, she was particularly gifted at magic. Her tutors were always fond of her and the way she strived to constantly be better. It  earned her the love of almost everyone around her, yet only the praise of one person mattered: her father.  

TEENAGE YEARS

Lumina wasn’t a particularly rowdy teenager. As she grew older she grew more cunning and ruthless, but this didn’t really show in her daily life. And why would it? Everything was perfect. Her father even said that it should be her who should take the throne, instead of her brother. She was a darling at court, basking in the attention she got from all the young men and women. She knew just how to spin people around her little finger and tasted the fruit from this labour. During this time she grew out to be a beautiful girl, one with many eyes on her. Lumina was smart enough to remain seemingly perfect, keeping her escapades to herself.  

ADULTHOOD

Lumina’s life changed forever when she was just eighteen years old. The one person she cared about most in the world now was no more: King Alastor. Now without any parents, the princess was left with only her sister and her rebel brother. A brother who would now wear the crown and was utterly unsuitable for it. Her father had often said that she should wear the crown, but even that couldn’t be true. Little Lumina felt nothing but bitterness about it all. And in the void her father left, her cunning and ruthless nature began to truly grow. The princess grew more rowdy, taking pleasure in things she shouldn’t when no one was watching. Yet she had no trouble one-upping her brother to make her seem like the more fitting candidate for the throne.

It was all in vain, however, when her brother decided to give up the monarchy. This felt like both a betrayal and a confirmation for the young woman. Not only was Ezriel incapable of ruling, it felt like he took away her identity. In a way, he did. Even to this day, three years later, she hasn’t forgiven him for it. Now she finds herself without much of a purpose, a fallen princess that should have worn the crown.
