The Lost Serpent Tribe
The Serpent will always bite back
General
Allegiance Avalon
Residence AEREDALE

The Lost Serpent tribe is a name feared by many. It welcomes all of those who have Avalon blood in their veins, and resents everyone that does not. Their hunger for revenge over their fallen kingdom is what leads them. Living within a settlement hidden within the treetops, they have created a community of murder machines. The only ones they'll reason with are the other Avalon tribes, and those with Avalon blood who live solitarily. They've mastered the art of anything poisonous. Poison arrows, darts and potions. They capture any intruder on sight, forcing them into a often not so friendly, rather violent interrogation back at their settlement, which is almost certain to have death as an end result.

When creating your character you do not need OOC permission to join the tribe, unless you want to play a priest or right hand. To have your name added within the list send a DM to Eden, preferably on discord.

SIGIL

Just like the other tribes, the Lost Serpent Tribe has a sigil. You gain this sigil once you've completed your period as apprentice. During the ritual you'll earn the burn mark which represents a serpent. The sigil has to be hidden under clothing.

Ranks

The tribe has a small ranking system. Instead of status, these are more of a way to appoint certain tasks to their members. Beside the Chief, commander and the priest/priestess, all of the ranks share the same status and can be chosen without premission. The tribe works with the following ranks:

CHIEF: The Chief leads the tribe and is the point of contact for each member seeking advice or instructions. In the Lost Serpent Tribe it is common for the kin of the previous Chief to take over this rank with the prerequisite that they are approved by the tribe members. Once there are no suited family members it is most common for the right hand, or another suited member, to gain this status.

COMMANDER: The commander is the right hand from the chief. Whenever the Chief is absent or when they need a second opinion on an important decision, the right hand stands right by their side. This rank is in some cases to inherit the title of Chief when the current Chief passes away or becomes unable to rule.

PRIEST/PRIESTESS: Unlike the other kingdoms, Avalon does not have a High Priest anymore. The Lost Serpent Priest is the rank to fulfill this role for the tribe only. They host weddings, rituals and sometimes claim to receive prophecies from Adelia.

HEALER:  The Lost Serpent Tribe has one assigned person that takes care of the wounded and the sick within the tribe. The healer has a lot of knowledge about herbs and poisons which has been passed on for generations. Healers are often members who have some form of magic, like druids or mages, due to their healing powers.

MEMBERS: Once completed the training and ritual one could call themselves a official member of the tribe. Within the tribe there are multiple task that are spread evenly over the members. Hunters have the important task to hunt for food. They are in charge of filling the food supply. Most hunters are also skilled in preserving meat and making weapons for the hunt. Guardians are the protectors of the tribe. They patrol around the village and will guard the tribe with their life. Both hunters and guardians are skilled fighters. Gatherers have the task to make weapons and most importantly the poison the Serpent Tribe is famous for, they also garner herbs, berries and edible fruits. For both healing, poison and food purposes. The borders within these three main specialties are thin. And almost all members are specialised in more than one thing and they will switch tasks to whatever is needed the most at that moment. Which is often discussed between members, or in some cases under instructions from the righthand or Chief.

APPRENTICES: The Lost Serpent Tribe works with a simple system of apprentices before one becomes an official member of the tribe. Most children become apprentice around the age of 13. During this period they will learn how to wield weapons, make poison, hunt, fight and they gain any other skills that is needed to be an efficient member of the tribe. They are trained by all members of the tribe. And do not have one specific mentor. Once they turn 18 their training should be completed and then the priest/priestess will preform a special ritual for the apprentice to become and official member and gain their sigil. The chief will decide wether an apprentice has learned enough to gain their official status. It is often seen as a shame when an apprentice does not complete their training before their 19th birthday.
Avalon habitants from outside the clan who wish to join the tribe shall also follow the apprentice training until they have gained enough skills and trust to become and official member.

ELDERS: Once a member is no longer suited for the tasks within the tribe due to old age they will gain the rank Elder.  With this status they are excused from the work within the tribe. Altough most elders still like to complete small gathering tasks like making poison, or prepare meat and healing herbs. Elders are highly respected within the tribe and often help with rituals or are asked for their wisdom when needed.

More information regarding the culture of the Lost Serpent Tribe (like marriage, rituals etc) will follow swiftly. This is not the completed version yet, so some things may change, and all missing things will be added soon. If you have any questions you can DM Eden (preferable through Discord, = Empyrean#1683)
Notes

  • As of now, the Lost Serpent Tribe has neutral relations with the other tribes.
