Constellation The Hunter
Alignment True neutral
TraitsFierce, loyal, logical, humorous, protective
TraitsAdaptable, cold natured, temper, unforgiving, stubborn
While he looks gruffy, it’s all just part of how he wants the world to see him. As in fact a stone-cold killer who has no regard for life. In battle that usually gives him the upperhand. But again, that’s all just a facade. Since he had taught himself to care about those closest to him. But to gain that close, one has to break through a certain amount of layers.
Arkyn has a sense of humor that is equally dry, witty and sharp. So not a lot of people actually see it as humorous when he cracks a joke. There is a whole bunch of sarcasm bottled up inside of him as well. This snarkiness is something that shapes him, people that actually know him quite well can usually see past it and accept that this is simply his form of humor.
But once you get to know him, he is a rather empathic and protective person. Helping out where he can. One thing he also does is put his friends or loved ones before himself. When stuck in a perilous situation, he will always try to save others first before he thinks about saving himself. Which makes him kind of selfless.
Arkyn carries a natural form of confidence with him. He is a very fierce warrior, one that doesn’t back down from any fight at all. Which has made his sword fighting skills impeccable.

His family exists out of a long line of people that date back to the first inhabitants of Ravaryn, belonging to the tribes that roamed these lands. Years ago they started out as hunters for the tribes and warriors. But over time they have evolved themselves into the greatest warriors, hunters, trappers, pelt hunters and pelt sellers. The family is pretty extended. Some of them still live higher up north, past the frozen heights even. Others have established them in cities and villages within Ravaryn.
They aren’t as close knit as they once were, certainly those that live past the frozen heights or in the mountains. But they do try to stay in contact. Have a big family gathering every two years. All of the Skygge’s are druids and thus blessed with magical powers.
Magic
Magic type Druid
ExpertiseShapeshifting
As many in his family Arkyn gained the ability to shapeshift. His animal form is that of a white wolf. The gift itself activated itself when he was around the age of eight. Over the years the man has harnessed his magic rather well. It still exhausts him to a certain point, but with the endurance he has built he can go around being a wolf for at least three hours, before it actually starts to become difficult on him.
When it happens that he stays in that form for longer than that said amount, it is unsure what happens since he hasn’t tried staying in his form for longer than that said amount.
History
Generations ago
Years and years ago when the first people entered Odiria, Ubbe Skygge and his wife were present amongst the roaming tribes. Both of them were druids, very skilled in shapeshifting. But what they did for the tribe was more important. Ubbe and his wife were renowned hunters and were very skilled fighters as well. Which was exactly what they did for the tribe. Providing them with food and protection. First it was focused on the tribe as a whole. But as some time had passed, they focussed more on protecting the chieftain.
They soon became a small family of five, evolving themselves into warriors, hunters, fishermen and pelt hunters and sellers while time progressed. Due to the fact that the Skygge’s swore to protect the chieftain and his family. They became the sole protectors of a family called the Trygg’s. A relationship that has survived time and still stands to this very day.
Third of the Corn Moon
The more present day brought the Skygge’s to Norwyn, having established a quite extended family there. The family itself is filled with druids of all sorts, their occupations varying from being warriors, to hunters, to pelt hunters, sellers and fisherman. The family has ventured beyond Norwyn as well, some living a more secluded life. But the core of the family is located in Norwyn.
On a certain day during the Corn Moon, a young boy was born. A boy with hair as white as milk and with eyes the color of amber. Arkyn Skygge, the first son of Vukasin and Accalia. Both are renowned warriors in the ranks of the army of Norwyn. Father one of the higher ranking officers within the army and his mother a fierce shield-maiden, but also the most skilled pelt hunters one could find. They couldn’t have been prouder of their son. A son that was welcomed by the entire family as well. From quite an early age Arkyn was taught about the magic that ran in the family, the gift itself hadn’t kicked in for him as well but it was only a measure of time. The years following he enjoyed the upbringing of a young viking warrior. But his parents made sure they granted him everything he needed. With the amount of wealth they had gathered over the years they did belong to the upper circles of the region.
As the years progressed Arkyn was soon joined by a brother and sister. His training as a swordfighter began as well, right after his siblings were born. Being taught by not only his parents but also by friends they had made in the army. The white-haired boy, proving to be a natural picking that kind of thing up really fast. The moment he turned eight was the moment his gift kicked in. His first shift was the weirdest experience ever. He had been midfight with his father and for a few brief moments he had shifted entirely into a white wolf cub.
Somewhere after his first shift he got to know Rán Trygg. They were three years apart and the reason why they met was because his parents had been invited to a gathering in their household and since Arkyn was the oldest he could attend as well. From that moment on a friendship developed between the both of them. Maybe at first he did think of her as a tad annoying but when they had moved past that, they hit it off pretty well.
Teenage years
While growing up he did end up working in some of the businesses his relatives owned. Most of the work he did was as a starting hunter, learning the ropes and practicing those skills. One of the coolest things he learned from them was how to cleanly remove a pelt from an animal. Which involves a steady hand and a whole lot of practice. During his early teens it was all about honing his skills. The young man could be found on the training grounds everyday, from dusk till dawn. Either that or in the forest. Wanting to become the best at everything.
When he passed the age of sixteen, certain events happened. Girls picked up on him and well, he noticed them too. So well, as a youngster with hormones raging through him a certain amount of flings did happen. Though they never lasted longer than a night. If anything Arkyn wasn’t looking to actually get married or become a father or whatever. So if anything, he took care of his little escapades to make sure that no trace was left behind. Which did involve certain teas.
Sparring sessions were almost a common thing for him. Most of them involved people of his own age, but from time to time Rán and he sparred together. Cause what was more fun than trying to beat each other to a bloody pulp? Along the years something shifted for his friend, being who she was. Suitors came from all over town, which ended up being the most fun. Arkyn often being near when one of them would appear, to only laugh at them later on when they had left together with his friend. His parents also coming with the marvelous idea of pushing their son in that same position, but the boy just thought of it as very weird. It was his friend, ew.
When he came of age, it was only natural that he officially joined the Norwyn army, his first mission was that of patrolling the Ashmoorian border. A mission he off course respected and fulfilled. During his time at the border he learned lots about life itself and even got to learn a thing or two about his magic as well. Training was a daily task as well, if not by sparring with his fellow companions than by chasing bandits or worse. In their little squad was a shield-maiden as well and if one put two and two together, then a small thing happened. Which ended up with him spending a whole lot of time with the woman as a kind of friend with benefits. His time at the border wasn’t all about just patrolling. No, there were a few altercations with bandits, thieves and all the scum one could think about. Around the age of 19 he returned back to Norwyn, parents and siblings welcoming him with open arms.
Taking up his sparring sessions with Rán, it was still as much fun. And frankly, he loved it. Her skills had grown a lot since the last time and he could only respect that. Their connection getting a bit better as well in the process.
Adulthood
As the years progressed Arkyn climbed ranks within the military. Now serving the Trygg’s as a captain in their army, commanding a small group of warriors. But he also took it upon himself to carry on the hunting legacy of his family, so while he wasn’t busy with one thing the man did the other. The moment his mother passed away, it left the entire family devastated. His father the most. Which made the family grow closer again. As they tried supporting each other.
After the passing of Accalia his father decided to make a switch in occupation instead of focussing entirely on being a warrior, training teenages. He completely focussed on the pelt hunting business he had built up with his wife. It brought a sense of closure for the man. Though he still remained an active part of the military as well, for when they did need him.
