Altaïr Faez

Details

Altaïr is big man, not especially in height, but he compensates it with a broad build and religious training. Altaïr is a typical Sun Elf with a dark complexion: dark skin, hair and eyes. He has half long hair that is twisted in dreads. He has some well-kept facial hair. His upper body is littered with small, self-inflicted scars.

Demeanor

Altaïr holds himself as what you expect from a general. He makes himself look pristine and slightly intimidating. He always has this hint of a stern and not-amused expression on his face. He often walks and talks with his hands behind his back.

Clothing

Altaïr is a very simple person when it comes to clothing. He often is only seen in his guard uniforum. In his downtime he wears whatever is provided. Usual simple robes in Xaila's colors. For formal events, he will get himself dressed by servants. Then he will be seen in some more detailed, nice clothing, fitting for the event.

Altaïr is a responsible person; A perfectionist, a strategist, a quick thinker. He is calm and calculating. He prides himself that nothing goes over his head. He is very practical and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. He is loyal to his country and the royal family, and one of the most reliable people you can know. He never forgets a promise, he never hesitates to help and he is brave in the face of danger.

But with that set of skills, is a very big downside. He is so practical, he is rude. He tells what he expects from people in their face. He is like an elephant, he never forgets a thing. So if you betray him, or don't make word of your promises, he is immediately finished with you. He is distrustful of everybody. He rather does everything himself than to ask anybody for help. Because his way is the best way. He can seem too proud and arrogant, too stubborn to let someone close. This makes him very uncharismatic.

Altaïr is this big boy with this tiny heart. He rarely gets angry, but rather will give you a cold shoulder. He does care and feel deeply, but he rarely shows anything at the surface. He has a reputation to uphold, and that's all that matters.  

Altaïr can be almost called a master fire-bender. He is especially expertises in his breath of fire. It is his inner flame, that he can control through all his body. That's why Altaïr always feels warm to touch. Altaïr can produce almost every shape and form of fire, spewing large streams of fire from the palm of his hands and feet. He keeps his enemies at bay, because he can produce fire streams at a large range. He also can direct bursts of fire, make fire whips and lashes. His most impressive feat is that he able to spew fire from his mouth.

He is also experienced with heat deflection and manipulating existing sources of fire in his surrounding, for example the flame of a candle. He can direct heat from his body into objects. This can be fairly harmless, like warming a cup of tea or the sheets of a bed. But he can also absorb heat from objects, although this is much more difficult. He can drain the energy of an existing fire, but that energy has to go somewhere. If he stores it in his body too long of for to much, he will burn from the inside. The most easy way to deflect that heat, is to fire a blast outward.

Altaïr's fire is big, powerful and some would say uncontrolled. Altaïr is always on the offensive, not being able to deflect other attacks with fire, like for example a moon mage could. He is also not worried about the more intricate ways of bending, that are more focused on control and finesse. He will fight fire with fire, as deflecting takes up to much time and energy.

Childhood

Altaïr was born in a large family of Sun Elves. They were resident in Al-Qahil. And although they were a respectable family, they were nothing special. His father was a merchant, always striving to become more, and his mother a woman from a more noble family, which Ezio Faez had to be cunning and manipulative to be able to ask for her hand.

Altaïr was the next of many children in their relationship. He has some older siblings and some younger siblings. Their father encouraged them to compete with each other, always telling them that their biggest rivals were their blood and bones, because it was the truest way of comparing yourself to somebody else. You always had to be better than the one that came before. You always had to keep the honor of Sun Elves high.

Altaïr was quick to discover his talent for sun magic. It was expected of course, that every sun elf had affinity with sun magic. But Altaïr's flame was aggressive from the moment he first conjured one. He burned his hand while he did that, thus earning him his first scar. From then on he was put under strict training in a Sun Elf academy, from the age of five.

Early teens

It was clear Altaïr had to perform. He always needed to be top of his class, always needed to be better, bigger, braver. It was the cause of many accidents, the students burned each other frequently. They were never really punished for it, as they had to get used to the smell of burning flesh. But they were also taught the dangers of sun magic, as it was nothing like the magic the other elf species possessed. It was supposed to be dangerous, aggressive, frightening.

Altaïr learned that this was his destiny. He was molded into a soldier, nothing more. It was at this moment there was starting to grow tension between some of his older siblings. His eldest brother was also training to be a soldier, while some of the other were pursuing careers in politics or banking. But he had one older brother that was sick of the way things were in the family. He was rebellious, speaking that this was not a way to live. One day he just... vanished. He was hated by his parents. An loser, an disgrace to the family, the rawest form of betrayal. Altaïr never wanted his family to speak to him in that way, so he was the perfect, obedient child.

Late teens

Altaïr became a man. He started to over achieve his older siblings, becoming the apple of his father's eyes. He started to talk to him about the idea of joining the Crimson Dawn and getting closer to the Royal Family. He could become the pride of this family. So Altaïr bowed his head and agreed. With his goal clear, it was just an easy rise to the top.

But as the young man he was, he started to want things for himself. He did want to achieve the Crimson Dawn, that dream had slowly become his own as well, but he was a young, talented strong boy. He became cocky, his success never seemed to end, so attention from admirers became slowly ever so clear. His escapades with girls were not liked by his father when he found out. Especially when he shared the sheets with a human girl. It was shameful and he was put on strict lockdown. He had to focus on his training, nothing more, and when the time was ripe, he should be married into nobility.

Adulthood

When he became eighteen, his proving was a piece of cake. But as a final act of rebellion against his father, he shaved his head. Hair was a symbol of strength, especially in his conservatieve family. He did it in an impulse, but when he entered the sun ring he quickly took care of the [ENTER DRAWN BEAST]. He immediately applied for the Crimson Dawn after his impressive showing and he got accepted into their ranks.

That was the moment he could finally live on his own for a while. But the training became even more straining and tough. But he enjoyed it, as did he enjoy the privileges from living on court. But he never stepped out of place. He was obedient, responsible and good. He was part of the Crimson Dawn for some more than a decade, when he was offered the position of General. Prince Daetrys had injured himself. Altaïr was still young, but he was experienced and had a perfect, clean record, so Altaïr was the easy choice.
