Vivienne Howard

Details

Vivienne is a traditionally beautiful girl. She is built tall, yet with feminine curves. Her skin tone is very pale, a clear sign of her status in Ashmoor. Her heart-shaped face is most notably defined by her nose. Her eyes are a pale blue colour and sometimes seem grey in certain lights. She has long and black hair that falls far over her shoulders and is slightly wavy.

Impressions & Attitude

Vivienne is a very observant and analytical person. Her piercing eyes are always analyzing the situation around her, taking in every possible detail. She's usually quiet, lost in her own thought. An introvert to the core, she doesn't usually engage in social interaction, as she's much happier by lonesome. Should you talk to her however, you'll soon notice her striking intellect and quick wit. She carries herself like a true lady, a telltale sign of her upper class upbringing. She can be a tad haughty and has the tendency to look down on others. However, this is not necessarily because she thinks them of a lesser class, but of a lesser intellect. She isn't known for smiling.

Clothing

She enjoys wearing dark colours, especially black, but also hues of purple and mauve. Most of her dresses have some sort of embroidery on them and she also particularly enjoys feathery details. The silhouettes of her garments are elegant: they usually hug her at the waist and flare out near the bottom and sleeves. Her accessories and jewelry are often kept simple: an ornate belt, dark gloves or necklace will do the trick. She often sports some sort of delicate braid to decorate her hair while the rest falls loosely over her shoulder. For more formal occasions, she is not afraid to spend the necessary amount of gold to have a beautiful dress made.

From the outside, Vivienne may seem to live in a never-ending daydream. She has a reputation for being pensive, detached, and a bit reserved. It would be a mistake, however, to think that Vivienne is unfriendly or uptight. When she connects with someone who can match her mental energy, she absolutely lights up. Few things energize her like the opportunity to connect with another curious, inquiring soul.

She prides herself on her unique perspectives and vigorous intellect.  She often loses herself in thought– and hardly ever stops thinking. An introvert to the core, she tends to get tired out by extensive socializing. After a long day, she craves time alone to consult her own thoughts.
Without necessarily knowing how she does it, she often has a knack for spotting discrepancies and irregularities. In other words, it’s a bad idea to lie to her. Ironically, Vivienne shouldn’t always be held at her word. She rarely means to be dishonest but is often happy to play devil’s advocate in order to keep an interesting discussion humming along.

Vivienne feels most at home in the realm of logic and rationality. As a result, she can find herself baffled by the illogical, irrational ways that feelings and emotions influence people’s behaviour. She can overthink even the smallest of decisions. This makes her feel ineffective and stuck, so exhausted by the endless parade of thoughts in her mind.

EARLY YEARS

Vivienne Elizabeth Howard was born as the only child of Carlisle and Josephine Howard. The Howards are an upper class family most renowned for their trade practices. Most of their trade is focused on luxury goods such as rich fabrics, silver and gold. They are an ancient family, dating back a few hundred years. Back in the day they were cunning merchants that were at the right place at the right time. As their fortune grew, so did their status and they firmly placed themselves at the top of the ladder. The family isn't the most bold and they don't flaunt their wealth as much as others. Instead they prefer to remain modest and under the radar, letting their accomplishments speak for themselves.

Vivienne grew up with one older sister who was the apple of her parent's eye. Alice was the oldest and would thus inheret the family business and fortune. And Vivienne... it seemed as if she was almost forgotten. When she was very young, only four years old, she became very sick. The only remedy seemed to be to send her away from the city to spend time with some distant family in the countryside. There she'd grow up without the stress of the city.

CHILDHOOD YEARS

Little Vivienne absolutely adored life outside Alderrath. She grew up on a mansion north of the capital city with a view of the mountains. Her very distant aunt and uncle gave her the absolute best of everything. She was a lonely kid, living a sheltered life, but she was so incredibly bright. She excelled at studying, especially in topics such as: history, philosophy, literature and art. She also had an extraordinary memory, trained by all the hours spent in the manor library with her tutors.

TEENAGE YEARS

Finally, it was time to return to the city. Not because of her own will, nor own accord. On their travels towards their youngest daughter both her parents and sister were found dead on the road. It became clear that the family had been a target, but of who? The only thing that mattered now was the safety of their only heir, who wouldn't be safe with her distant family anymore. So when Vivienne was just seventeen, having hardly anyone left, she returned to Alderrath.

For her own protection it was decided by the Duke and his advisors that she would be brought under the care of another family, loyal to the Duke, like the Howards had been. It was decided that the Aphellion family would pose as her new guardians. Perhaps Terzo truly cared for the fortune of the Howards, or perhaps he saw the family fortune shimmering in front of his eyes in the form of Vivienne.

ADULTHOOD

Life with the Aphellions was by no means bad, it was actually quite comfortable. The older brother, Alpha, seemed to understand that a girl like Vivienne preferred to be left alone. So her adoptive family gave her means to continue her studies, and where there when she wanted them to be. Just like that, a bond started to form.

NOW

Vivienne got used to life in the dark and gloomy Aphellion mansion. She still doesn't quite enjoy social events, but sometimes attends anyway out of gratitude towards her adoptive family. That, and the fact that it is expected of her as the last Howard.
