Nimue Estelar

Details

Nimue is often described as one of the most beautiful moon elves anyone might lay eyes upon. She is tall and has a slim built. She is as fair as the twilight, with long black wavy hair that falls far over her shoulders. Her sharp features are highlighted by her blue eyes that encapture pure starlight. Like other moon elves, she has a set of pointy ears.

Impressions & Attitude

She is a woman clouded in the mystery that night brings. She moves around gracefully, like a fallen star descended down on earth. Nimue is soft-spoken and quiet. Her timid nature easily fascinates people, yet very few seem to truly understand her inner thoughts. She has a lovely singing voice.

Clothing

Nimue's clothing still very much reflects her origin as a moon elf. She has a connection to the celestial world, with many of its components reflected in her garments. The colours of many of her gowns and cloaks usually exist of blue and lilacs. Since moving to Wealdstone, she has been known to incorporate more earthly tones as she got used to her surroundings. Nimue always wears a necklace with a jewelled pendant [click] on it. It is said to hold the light of the moon, enchanted by her mother.  

Nimue is a person that inspires compassion, kindness, and beauty wherever she goes because of her quiet belief in doing the right thing. Tolerant and accepting, Nimue tries not to judge anyone else’s beliefs, lifestyles, or decisions. Because she's so accepting, she can easily become a confidant to others. She longs for deep, soulful relationships, and she feels called to help others. Nimue doesn't just care about people in an abstract sense, she has the uncanny ability to feel another person’s emotions. Because her sensitivity, she tends to be thoughtful and kindhearted.

Although she may seem quiet or unassuming, Nimue has a vibrant, passionate inner life. Creative and imaginative, she happily loses herself in daydreams. She might not always be outspoken, but that doesn't diminish her strong feelings for a cause that speaks to her beliefs. She also has a sincere curiosity about the depths of human nature. Introspective to the core, she's exquisitely attuned to her own thoughts and feelings, but she yearns to understand the people around her as well. However, she doesn't always know how. Especially in new environments, she might be reluctant to put herself out there. Nimue may sometimes feel lonely or invisible, adrift in a world that doesn’t seem to appreciate the traits that make her unique.

Empathy is among Nimues greatest gifts, but at times it can be a liability. The troubles of the world weigh heavily on her shoulders, and she can be emotionally vulnerable. She doesn't know how to set boundaries, and often feels overwhelmed by just how many wrongs there are that need to be set right. Nothing in this world is perfect – and that can be a difficult truth for Nimue to accept. Nimue tends  to feel directionless or stuck until she finds a sense of purpose for her life. While she wants to help everyone, she needs to learn how to focus her energy and efforts.

Nimue's magic is heavily associated with the nighttime aspect of moon magic. Her magic is strongest during the night, especially when the moon is out. She also becomes stronger in dark places, as she can use the darkness to her advantage there. While she can use her magic, especially darkness manipulation, during the day, it is never as strong as at night.
She is a competent magic user, but is nowhere near proficient- or expert-level yet. Nimue isn't a particularly offensive magic user and mostly uses it as a means of defense.

Darkness/shadow Manipulation: Nimue can create, shape and manipulate darkness and shadows. By itself, darkness is mostly used to cloud everything into total darkness. She can create shadows at will, and on the other hand, absorb and dissipate them.  She can create and dispel shields and areas of total darkness. As a more defensive magic user she has learned how to surround enemies in pitch-black clouds of dark space.  

• Shadow camouflage/cloaking: By manipulating shadows, she could use it to cover herself in darkness to become invisible. She is able to become undetectable as long as she stays in darkness or shadow.
  

Not yet trained/mastered/undiscovered

• Blindness inducement:  She can induce temporary blindness in other beings and greatly hinder opponents by taking away one of their most important sensory abilities. (Undiscovered)
  
• Shadow travel:  It is possible to create portals of darkness to travel from one place to the next, shadow travel, but she has never attempted to do this. (Undiscovered)
  
• Shadow weaponry:  She can manipulate shadows and darkness to form a weapon. The same goes for firing bolts of dark energy. (Not yet trained)
  

Darkness adaption: Nimue is able to survive and adapt to dark environments (especially nighttime conditions). Her circadian cycle is programmed for nighttime activity and she seems to have heightened senses to compensate the absence of light.

• Night vision: She has an excellent night vision and can see in low light conditions or even total darkness.
  

EARLY YEARS

Nimue Iminyë Estelar was born as the daughter of a priestess in Lemuria and an Avalon Chief. The latter of the two was someone who she didn't know, nor would he be present her life for a long time. Together with her mother Isilmë the little elf lived in a temple that was located in the hills below the Slopes of Shadow, close to the border with Avalon.

Nimue lived a fairly sheltered life. She was taught how to read and write by her mother and the other priestesses. Other subjects she was taught were the Odirian Faith, medicine and herbalism. It was her mother who taught her all about astronomy, and how to navigate the stars. From a young age Nim had a close connection to the stars, or rather, the night. She loved to be awake in the late hours, wandering through the hills and wading through the books.

Her magic was triggered when Nimue was just seven years old. On one of her walks, near the end of day, the girl had an encounter with a rather scary looking wolf. Before she knew it, shadows began to form around her hands and soon it had surrounded the wolf. The animal, clearly frightened by this display, made a quick getaway and left little Nim to wonder what had just happened. As soon as she returned home and showed her mother, the woman seemed just as frightened as the wolf had been. But when taking her daughter to the elderly head priestess, it became clear that Nimue was gifted a very peculiar part of moon magic by Lythrana. And if Lythrana must have granted her this power for a reason.

TEENAGE YEARS

Nimue was fourteen years old when she first met her father. The man had come from Wealdstone to once again visit Isilmë and was presented with a daughter. Isilmë had never particularly cared for being a family with him, she understood that he had his obligations as did she. Yet for Nimue, it felt as if her life started to make sense. She absolutely adored the man, and in turn, he got to know and care for his daughter. His visit was only brief, but it made a big impact on her.

Tragedy struck when the elf was sixteen. Her mother had fallen gravely, and terminally, ill. A rare sickness had caught onto her, one that none of the priestesses knew how to heal. It only took two moons before the sickness took over and Isilmë was returned to Lythrana. It wasn't enough time to say goodbye for Nimue, yet she had to. The moons after it were a particularly dark time for her, one in which her magic tended to act out because she was so emotional.

Through what seemed a heavenly intervention, Nimue's father appeared not long after her mother's death. Perhaps Isilmë had warned him, perhaps he was just on his way to Avalon and came by. Nimue didn't have anyone else but the man she had only met once, yet he was enough. Nimue easily grew close to her father and he in turn saw his dear Isilmë in her.  The loss of Nimue's mother made the two connect even more and when it was time for him to leave once again, she now went with him.

ADULTHOOD

Nimue easily grew to love life in Avalon. It was mysterious, riveting and exciting. She even grew close to her sister, who was four years older than her. How could she not? Everyone adored kindhearted and softspoken Nim. Her father trained her in swordsmanwhip, as did her sister. And at night she'd wander off into the mystical woods (which was very much not allowed by Caer).

The two sisters couldn't be more different, yet they learned how to be peas in a pod. Through happiness and tragedy. That's the thing about Raanan: he takes whomever, whenever. Not even their father was an exception to Frostcrown's deity.  Perhaps what made them even closer was that eventually, they only truly had each other.
