Ethon wiped the sweat of his brow as he put away the last crate that he hadn’t been able to sell today. He checked the tomatoes that were inside and pressed his fingertips in a few of them, concluding that they still had quality enough to sell the other day. The hard texture wouldn’t give away until a few days later, which was a quality a tomato needed to be bought on his stand. He locked up the shop and let his gaze travel to the sky, where orange and red colors where already covering the whole sky of Moonbright. It wouldn’t take long for darkness to set in and Ethon’s stomach grumbled, deciding that he would need something to eat. As he hadn’t been able to do his groceries today, he decided that the quiet, welcome breeze was a perfect invitation for him to go to the local inn where he could sit outside. It would be a bit more expensive than if he would make a dish himself at home, but it was the beginning of the weekend and he would have a day off tomorrow. So why not?

It wasn’t too busy at the inn where he decided to sit down. There were a few others who decided to sit outside as well. It didn’t take too long for the candle in front of him to be lit and Ethon smiled politely at the waitress. He made his order, drinks and food because he knew what he wanted to have a leaned back in his seat with a soft sigh. The muscles in both his back and his shoulders ached and Ethon rubbed a hand over the smooth texture of his shirt, pressing hard with his fingertips so he could message his muscles a bit.

After he had sunken his hand down again, he tapped lightly and in thought with his fingertips on his arm rest. He had thought about traveling a lot lately, but if he sat down and enjoyed the scene around him, would he really be able to leave this behind?

Draco maledicte et omnis legio diabolica

The day went on slowly, he just had a new batch of meat which had to be chopped up. His day had started very early, even before sunrise he stood next to his bed doing his morning exercises. This, however, did net get the stiffness out of his bones and he felt the pain getting closer and closer. He had looked out of his window, to see the faint image of the moon in the sky. Within a few days it would be that time again and he already felt the pain, the stiffness, the itch. A growl in the back of his throat when he put on some clothes and made his way to the town, so he could start with his job.
Now, hours later, he stood just outside his shop, all closed down and the man stretched his tired limbs. He was in dire need of a good ale, maybe that could sooth the tiredness in his bones. Even for only twenty-eight years, he felt like he was a lot older. Zander wondered if this was the feeling of the curse, coursing through his veins. Slowly he made his way to the inn, in the meantime he felt his stomach growl, did he forget to eat again? Being surrounded by meat made him not hungry until he was outside, most days he'd go without eating all day. Unless it was the full moon, that would mean he'd have a lot less meat to sell. Zander shook his head, trying to get the threat of the coming moon out of his head. He took place on a table with only one chair, he didn't fell the need to be social at the moment. When someone asked him what he wanted, he ordered a pint of ale and looked around. He noticed some interesting people here, and some new faces. Wondering if something would happen today, he sat against the back of his chair and just let the night go by.

There wasn’t happening much. A guy he didn’t know sat down in a chair alone a little way further, obviously not wanting to be social. It wasn’t that Ethon didn’t want to be social, but… he wasn’t very good at approaching people. He always felt a bit shy around them, not sure about starting a conversation or keep it going. Which was quite surprising for the fact that he was a merchant, having to deal with customers day in and out. But that was just work stuff and giving advice about the nutrients of the vegetables and fruits he sold was a far cry from having a conversation about… life? He chuckled at his own stupidity. Oh well. He would get into it eventually, but being alone for tonight was just fine.

Although it was mostly peaceful around Moonbright during the night, there were of course some occasions where it wouldn’t be. Just as Ethon got his drink served and the guy a few chairs away as well, a group of drunk men passed by. Ethon didn’t pay them any heed, knowing that would be the best course of action if he didn’t want to get involved with them. He averted his eyes to his beer. Not because he was scared, but because he was tired of working all day and the last thing he wanted was do deal with some annoying men. He was lucky, but the guy a few chairs away from him not so much.

”Hey, pal. Got a cigarette for me?” one of the men asked loudly. Ethon counted four of them and they were all equally as drunk. ”Yeah, and some of your money while you’re at it,” his companion added, laughing at his own stupid joke. Ethon sighed in advance, but he didn’t do anything. He just watched. He wouldn’t intervene until he had a reason to intervene. The guy in front of him looked like someone who could take care of himself well and if he needed Ethon’s help, Ethon would give it.

But so far he didn’t have a reason to engage in an unnecessary fight, so he just stayed where he was.
