[WIP] Theodore Eckhart

Dispite clearly having been through the effects of time, Theo is still a relatively fit man- given he has his cane to lean on as he trots through town. His silver hair he mostly slicks back as to appear more put together and on his face, he keeps a thick well cared for moustache to funny up his otherwise relatively strict face. On his hands, a good eye has the potential to spot many paper cuts- only but a little of the blood kept upon his hands.... Theo considers himself a high-standing and well-adjusted man. Having earned the right to dress as though he is a royal with the years lived he has on his belt. His clothing is perfectly tailored to fit his body and often decorated with utmost attention to detail- his favourites being floral patterns as he believes that with age comes a certain funkiness to clothing you wear. A slight hind to the youthfulness he has not entirely lost with time.

Theodore is a striking old man with a youthful energy about him. Though age may have beaten down his physical stride- it is sure yet to take his wit and bold character away from him. He is a determined feller with a stubborn nature whose devotion to both justice and perfection is unmatched and unwavering. The gentleman is a strict character to have in front of you, able to pick up on your lesser qualities within an instant if he tries to. With this, the older gentleman had pursued law in the successful way he has. He is a perfect learner, the perfect mind- the true embodiment of a judge to those meeting him. He is unrelenting in his moral compass and has no trouble weighing the scales of justice given to him by the State and Church.

There is however, a kindness to him that often makes those he faces feel somewhat at ease. Theodore's black-and-white view on the world does not merely mean he is unyielding to those in the wrong, but also mean he is not to be bought or persuaded. He judges by the book and only answers to the duke and his own set of morals at the end of the day. It is with this goodness in his heart that he made decisions later on in life that could potentially put his whole career on the line if revealed. Choices that made him change as a man and as a judge, with outcomes that still haunt him all these years later. Only eased when he looked upon the rewards he reaped out of the aftermath. He gladly became the bad, if it meant family saved, a lover at peace. As when the judge breaks- a soft soul is revealed. An old man who cares very much for his family and the innocent. A judge whose belief in their sacred patron had withered over the years due to her harsh outlook on those born differently. This, however- he is forced to keep up on a down low, yet another sacrifice made for his family and his beloved.

It all started approxamitly 91 years ago. When General Otto Wolfgang Eckhart, Fredericks great grandfather, led the siege that conquered the city of Glimmerhollow. Losing his two oldest son's in the process.  The General was honored with the tittle of Glimmerhollows new Baron. Making his last surviving son, Frederick Cornelius Eckhart (the first), his heir. And thus a new Barony was born within the district of Ashmoor. Glimmerhollows new baron had a difficult task ahead. The siege had left the city almost in ruins and it was up to him to build it back up. A task he took very serious and dedicated the rest of his life to. Sadly Otto didn't live long enough to witness the final results of his work. His son, Frederick, was the one who had to finish what Otto started. And that he did. Frederick however had a slightly different view of the people who once inhabited this city. He wanted to preserve some of it's history and architectural structures. He took on the cities coat of arms, two crossed longswords underneath a shield depicting a majestic unicorn, as his families crest. He tried to rebuild some of the old architecture back to its former glory and make Glimmerhollow a unique combination of the old and the new in an attempt to stand out as the new village of Ashmoor. Now that the village was reborn it was time to restore the mines to their former power. Glimmerhollow gave new opportunities to many people in Ashmoor.

In the meantime the Baron and his wife made sure they had heirs to spare, bringing their five children into this world. An heir, a set of twins with a boy and a girl, another boy and lastly another girl. Frederick wanted to make sure the reign of the Eckharts started with a strong family tree. Similar to that of the Winters in Alderrath and the Grimaldi's in Dawnmire. (Emes, 2022)

Among the twins- Theodore was born alongside his sister Ingrit Eckhart with whom he shared a particularly close bond. Ingrit was everything the younger of two was not, spontaneous, adventurous and without worry. Whilst Theo oftentimes refrained from taking things easy- preferring to spend his time reading and playing within the safe walls of their home where the two of them would play knights vs dragons. Ingrit on the other hand would often try to push him past these boundaries- though he never seemed to budge. At the young age of 5 he already seemed very mature for his age, many even argued he was more mature than their older brother Frederick whose interests mostly were to be found in chaos and an almost power-hungry drive. And with time, Theo was destined to think alike- finding it very difficult to accept their father seemed to favor his irrational and mean-spirited brother over the empathetic and fair demeanour of his second-born son.

While Theo felt as though he could never do anything right in the eyes of their father, he still pushed very hard to obtain his approval. Studying hard- showing his old man just how much potential he had to mean something to the district, whilst Frederick spent his time learning how to be a general, a man of war and power. Theodore, in his own eyes, studied to become a Baron, a fair leader with a great eye on how to govern according to what was just for their people. At the age of 17 his tutor recommended him to enroll in Alderraths school of Law as soon as he'd turn 18-  and not having booked much success in regards to showing his father he'd be a better fit as Baron, Theo agreed to do so. Saying goodbye to his beloved twin sister and younger siblings with pain in his heart. And venturing out into Alderrath where his family's money bought him decent accommodation on campus.


Without his sister around to guide him through social endeavours, Theodore had quite a difficult time at university. His introverted and mostly awkward demeanour meant he did not find a whole lot of friends on campus. Mostly remaining within his chamber when not in class. He hated the partying- not seeing and not understanding how a person could possibly enjoy drinking to such access, where it would make one's body ache. No- he preferred to spend time by himself, reading books written by the great philosophers and writing poetry in the beauty of a flickering candle. Interests that were very much in line with those of a certain someone. A Mrs Josephine Carlyle, whose life seemed all about the vivid world around them.

The two of them met one afternoon in the library, where she had hoped to find a book on puffins for her biology paper.
