there is a rabid beast in me

I am a bruise — the soft rot of a peach

Small and split open. The seam of me screams.
With now being the oldest child of his parents and his engagement to Alison he had to go out to parties and such a lot more than he ever did. Where he usually spend his time reading with a steaming cup of tea he was now spending it with upper class citizens that had too much to drink within the first few hours of the evening. That usually made it easier until they reached the point where they had too much to drink.

Most of the people there had reached that point right now. He was staning somewhere by the windows with a barely touched drink in his hand. The heat and the noise were giving him a pounding headache that he knew could only be fixed with some cold, fresh air, as far as the air could be fresh in Alderrath. So he pushed himself away from the wall and found the door to the balcony with ease. He had been eyeing it ever since he had entered the room anyways.

He turned the lock and pushed the door open, feeling the fresh air filling his lungs and finally taking a sip from the whiskey in his hand.

why god why
”Oh Baron! You tease!” The woman shrieked out in laughter, placing her hand on his chest. She clearly had some drinks already, flirting with him so openly in public. Ann Bodine. One of his many physical... distractions. Regrettably so, her case. She felt quite scorned by their short-lived and private affair. Before this evening, Frederick had been avoiding her very much. Mostly because Ann Bodine was known for her vengeance. This night she seemed to be very much over the whole thing, however, hence the public flirting. He did keep his guard up at first, not really engaging in conversation with her. She was quite hard to get rid of, annoyingly so, and not for lack of trying on his part. But, as the party went on and with every drink he had, Ann started to look more and more appealing to him again. So much so that the two stumbled giggling and teasing against the wall, like two teenagers. She whispered suggestive and indecent promises in his ear along with the word "balcony". It didn't take long for the two clearly tipsy degenerates to find the door to said balcony. Once again whispering ungodly naughty things in his ears, she pushed him gently through the door, onto the balcony, with his back towards the view of the night sky—or anyone else out there. Than she gave him her sweetest smile, grabbed the door handles, and slammed it shut, followed by the sound of a lock.

For a moment, he stood there, dumbfounded. He let out a soft chuckle, as he was a bit in disbelief. She wouldn't.. not after all the things she just said.. right?.. ”Ann?” He tried the doors, which were definitely locked. Again, he chuckled as he knocked on the door. ”Ann? Could you please open the door?” he said, still smiling. Not realizing the woman had already walked away with the key in her pocket. ”Ann? Are you there?” Only at that point did he turn to look around the balcony. It only took a fraction of a second for his smile to be wiped off of his face, replaced by an expression filled with disdain and almost disgust. He let out a soft, displeased grunt.
Pyrrhos. What on earth was that string bean doing on this balcony?!
He quickly turned back to the door again, without greeting or even acknowledging the other any further. It was embarrassing enough that someone had just witnessed this blunder. This time he rattled the door, rather forcefully, clearly unamused now. ”Ann!” His voice now rose as his patient was quickly crumbling. But there were no responses. Not even from the other guests, as it had been too busy and loud on the other side of the door for anyone to notice. ”Shit.” he softly exclaimed. Could this get any worse?

Ann. The name of a woman he didn’t know. The name of a woman Frederick Eckhart probably wouldn’t remember the next day. Faolan had never been a fan of one night stands, of being intimate with anyone before marriage to begin with, but clearly there were people with different opinions on that matter. They were friends once. People that shared their stories and talked about their thoughts together that they couldn’t share with anyone else. Now they were simply strangers. An old ‘hello’ that had turned into a ‘shit’, apparently.

Faolan stood there, his back against the wall and a cold glass with an alcoholic beverage in hand. Normally he wouldn’t reach for a strong drink like he was drinking, but it had been a long day and he wanted to treat himself with a headache the next day. A clearly disgusted look found it’s way to his face when he recognised the man in front of him.

He quickly downed his drink.
