When you're living in your mind, and nostalgia holds you in dark places
The last couple of weeks had been very busy for the young woman, there had been a lot of work to be done, and whenever she hadn’t been working, she had been busy taking notes of the stars and their positions at night. Or visiting the races to see Arthur. But during the nights, she kept being reminded of something someone said to her in her father’s workshop. Ofcourse, she had some reservations about visiting the Renestrae church, to ask about him, and follow him up on his promise. However, today, she made some time to go and visit the church, even if she did not necessarily believe in the faith the church stood for.

Carefully she entered through the large doors, and took in the architecture. It appeared to be a time in which not a lot of people visited the place, because she was only one of the few people walking around in there. Her eyes were mainly focused on the top of the building, because the ceiling was rather beautiful. Because of this, she had almost not noticed the man in the mask, standing somewhere around a pillar. But when she moved her gaze back to her surroundings, she suddenly saw him standing there. She recognized only the mask, and made the assumption, but she couldn’t be fully sure, ofcourse. Which was why she only briefly glanced at him, hoping he would have seen her as well, before she made way towards one of the banks. Sitting down, and waiting, while she looked at some of the unique sculptures in the building.

Feeling sad? Join a cult!

He hadn't exactly kept an eye on the smith's daughter, knowing that eventually she would come to him. After all, he'd been the one inviting her to Renestrae's church. Over the course of the weeks he had forgotten the importance of that meeting, it only drifting back to his memory every now and then. So when the girl suddenly stood on the doorsteps of the church, he had been slightly surprised.

Alpha had actually been on his way to conduct other matters, but as soon as their eyes met he knew that those could wait. One of the corners of his mouth curled up when he saw how she decided not to meet him. Was he truly that scary? Perhaps it was the mask. The High Priest closed his prayer book, knowing on which verse he'd stopped, and waited a moment longer. She had taken a seat in one of the benches and he wondered for a moment if perhaps she wasn't sure it was him. Either way, it was up to him to breach the distance. And so he did. His footsteps echoed against the stones of the grand building as he made his way over to her. "I was almost frightened you wouldn't show up anymore," he smiled when he was close enough for her to hear him. By now she would realise who he was, right? He was one of a kind after all.

When you're living in your mind, and nostalgia holds you in dark places
Remy did feel guilty for not coming sooner, but she knew that would only get worse the longer she waited, so eventually, she made the decision to go. After all, she had been way too curious about what he meant when he told her she needed to visit him in the church. Maybe part of her was also afraid that he knew about her. But on the other hand, she had never much used her magic in the city, so how could he know? She had been raised by a respectable family, one that wasn’t in the slightest bit suspicious, right? Unless something had gone drastically wrong without their knowledge of it. Which, she supposed, was an option.

That chance was very small though, and she knew it. In the corners of her eyes she could see that he closed his book, and after she sat down in one of the benches, he came up to her. For a moment, she did feel a bit nervous again, mainly because she could also not read his facial expressions. Yet, when she recognized his voice, and remembered that he had given her a piece of bread, she felt those nerves melt away. ”I’m sorry I waited so long.” She told him, showing some genuine guilt on her face. Because she truly felt bad about it. ”I have been rather busy.” Well, she knew that wasn’t an excuse, and that it wasn’t entirely true. But it was also not untrue.

”But still wanted to know why you wanted me to see you here.” She admitted, giving him a soft smile with a curious look in her dark brown eyes.
