The Painted Tree

The Painted Tree (Tla-cuilo Quahuitl) is a small store/apothecary located in the Adelian Rainforest, a safe distance away from Aeredale. The apothecary is focused on selling herbs, medicine, potions, and poisons (if you're that sort of customer). One can visit to buy loose ingredients, prepared medicine and potions, get advice on medical conditions or magic ingredients, and there is also a backroom for direct medical care.

While the round hut might not be the easiest thing to find in the rainforest, its increasing reputation lures people from all over looking for cures or poisons. The store owes his name to a tree native to its surroundings, named for its multicoloured trunk, which is used in different cures in Avalon.

While Ixcali works alone, she might be inclined to take on an apprentice at some point, or hire someone to run the apothecary should it become more popular. Open for plot, so shoot me a DM in case you got something.

Raw ingredients

These are any herbs, plants and oils that have not been reworked into medicine or potions yet. These can be bought by those who make their own medicine or druids who might want to use them for magic purposes. Everything is already dried or processed if needed to store for later use. Examples of what you can encounter are flowers/flower petals, leaves, roots, bark, seeds, twigs, and berries. Note that they also have a wide array of raw poisons at The Painted Tree, although these safely kept in locked cabinets and only sold when Ixcali has somewhat of an idea as to what you are up to. She does not sell raw corpse medicine ingredients.

Prepared medicine & potions

The most important part of the apothecary is the medicine and potions that have been already prepared by Ixcali and are ready for use. Some that can be stored for a long time will already be displayed in the store, others will be freshly-prepared on demand. Think herb combinations for teas, salves, poultices, tinctures and syrups. As well as potions and magic potions for purification, funerals, house blessings and so on. The same rules apply to prepared poisons as to the raw materials.

Advice on medical conditions or magic ingredients

People can also stop by to get advice on what would be best to use for their ailments, or what herbs they might need as an alchemist to make a specific potion. Ixcali is very selective in sharing her knowledge, but it is not ruled out per se. The apothecary also has some books that can be consulted.

Direct medical care

In case when someone needs help to apply certain medications, for example, putting a poultice on a wound, they can have this done in the backroom of the apothecary. If needed the medicine will be prepared and applied by Ixcali. If there is anything amiss that she cannot fix, she will send someone to a doctor.
